Carol - the outtake on the VHS release ‘Gimme Shelter’ (Criterion/Homevision GIM 10 is the performance from 28 Nov, 1st Show. It is a different performance than that on the DVD ‘Gimme Shelter’ (Criterion Collection 99). As noted prevously, the version of Carol on the DVD is from the 28 Nov, 2nd show. The VHS outtake version from 28/11 1st show has the same instrumental track as Ya Ya's and Time Trip 4 but has a different (the original) vocal. The versions on Ya Ya's and Time Trip 4 have an overdubbed vocal.

Check Nico's reference 001114A (14th November 2000)

one question about HTW from Gimme shelter.

Could you please tell me at which point of the track is the cut between 28 second show and 27 ?

I think it's exactly at the end of "divorcee in New York City" but I'm not sure.

I don't have this either. Don't think I've heard the "original" Carol without overdubs...can you transfer to flac?

Does anyone know - are there any decent bootlegs of Jumpin' Jack Flash 28-2 and Midnight Rambler 28-1 & 27...perhaps in Hot Stuff?

Cheers,
WLY

Why did he do vocal overdubs on this one? Great vocals.

Thank you very much, Right Shoe Shuffle.

Great vocals. It amazes me why Mick overdubbed so many great original vocals. But now I can add this to my own compilation of Get Yer...

"We're gon' do one more an' we gon' go", is this an overdub or did Mick really say this?

I suspect it's an overdub...but obviously not certain.

Thanks so much for sharing, for years I always wanted to her the original version and I never knew it was actually officially released.

Great performance, I don´t know why he thought he needed to do vocal overdubs.

IMO it seems to play slower than the official overdubbed version on Ya Ya's although I haven't timed it.

Thanks this will help me in the reconstruction of Ya-Ya's. Now are there any more songs from the 28-11 first show without overdubs?

This is from a second generation copy of the VHS version of Gimme Shelter released in November 2000. Does anyone have access to a 1st generation source? It would be nice to listen to it in higher fidelity

street fighting man on "gimme shelter" after the voiceover from nov 28 2nd,,,

yes, and if you watch carefully in the GS movie it ends back on the 1st show ! How bizarre!!
Check out Keith's blue top right at the end of the song...he wore this on the "breakfast show".

Also, slightly off topic, the petal throwing you see on the YaYa's delux bonus DVD (at end of Satisfaction) is at the end of SFM #2 show from the 28th...the same petal throwing which can be seen on the Gimme Shelter DVD but from a different camera man.

It was also brought to my attention the slow-mo scenes during Under My Thumb/I'm Free on the bonus DVD is not from the song. Jagger wears his belt at the start of the song, but it's missing during the slow-mo's...so it would be footage after Midnight Rambler...

I made this composite of the intro of Carol from the Shot of Salvation boot and the link posted by Right Shoe Shuffle above. The sound quality differs slightly, but at least the vocals are undubbed:

Does yours have the same intro? I just took the intro from the Shot of Salvation (which I know as you pointed out is partly from Nov 27 based on the audience recording of that show) and pasted it onto the undubbed version. Is there more dialogue that occurred between JJF and Carol?

Sorry, I'm here again with my enquiry which remained unreplied.

Can somebody help me to detect HTW splitting point? This mix from Gimme shelter corresponds to the original versions or is overdubbed?
