The song you´ve listened to at a show that thrilled unexpectedly

I went to Düsseldorf August 2007 to see the Stones show and they played
CYHMK.

I doubted that I`ll ever get the chance to listen to this song at a live show,
but then - BANG !

Incredible joy, although one could guess many people might have forgotten about this special song
it was welcomed with enthusiasm.
Yes,I´ve to admit,it almost drove me to tears,at least wet eyes were caused.

Followed some songs later by You Got The Silver ...really touching.

Never will forget those moments.

I didn't like it before summer 2007 :-)

Believe it or not the version of Tumbling Dice at the Boston Garden in 2003 just absolutely cooked. Also Route 66 in 1999 at the garden.

I think Keith's ballads have been the biggest positive surprises. It looks like that I usually get the point of the songs not until they are played live. "Slipping Away" is perhaps the best example. Helsinki 1995 - still rememble the hectic moment when Keith started the intro by his own, and suddenly the whole song 'happened' to me.

And I need to give a special mentioning to "You Got The Silver", El Ejido 2006, the first time I heard it live. Absolutely fabolous, and actually the only song that really moved me in the set that night.

"Love Train", Columbus 2002. I knew it was a fixture in the set list going in but was more interested in Stones songs over covers, but we absolutley loved it. It had the whole place on its feet and dancing like teenagers!

Wild Horses. On the Voodoo Lounge tour in 1994 in Philadelphia. They really werent doing the song back then and Mick messed up the verses. Still great and blew me away.

The most unexpected was surely Streets of love in Paris -given what a dreadful song it is, I expected nothing - was even embarassed in front of my non-fan friends - and then wam, glorious soul singing by Mick.

No Expectations @ San Jose in 2003. Never expected it as it had mostly been a club show tune on the Licks tour. Awesome!!

Love Train in Boston to open the 2002 tour. Everyone in the crowd was looking at each other trying to figure out what song it was...I recognized it and was laughing that they would have the balls to bring it out...in terms of being thrilled...got Midnight Rambler AND CYHMK at the Roseland...after they played Rambler I figured there was no way they would do CYHMK.

1995 Gijón, Spain--> FIRST TIME I EVER HEARD ROLLING STONES PLAYIN "LIKE A ROLLING STONE"............by that time set lists were such a surprise because the internet thing was begining and there was no much information. Now you know that probably Keith is going to sing You Got the Silver or something like that. Now there are no surprises.....
But when i was at that stadium and Chucks keyboard began that simple intro i immediatly recognized the old Dylan's song and was a very very emotive moment, maybe the most emotive moment of all the 8 shows that i've seen live

Not sure I even understand what this thread is about. Are we talking about songs we didn't expect them to play that got played? Or are we talking about songs we thought we didn't like, and were surprised that when we heard them played live we enjoyed them?

Is he a bit thick "tatters" or what?

For me it was "Streets Of Love" on the Bigger Bang Tour, Cardiff - didn't realise how good it was until then - love it now!

"...till the next time.."

Agree - i was there and that song knocked me and all my friends out - still talking about it 12 years later!

Also - thought Back of My Hand at the Fenway show was great too, wasn't expecting that.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

My wife thinks I'm thick, but prefers that to someone who is merely long.

Out of Control also proves as one of my unexpected favorite concert performances. Seen BTB tour in Charlotte at BOA aka Ericcson Stadium.
