Thanks for posting those videos Baboon Bro,l met JT a couple of times in Nyc and he was a very cool person,a Keith clone in the good sense, lots of talent, but too many demons that at the end did him in.

I interviewed Thunders for my college radio station in 82--he was a mess but I loved him--out of it as he was, he was still a great interview and remembered all kinds of detail from the Dolls days - on the way to the club (Storyville, Boston) he said to me, "I'm like one part Bob Dylan and one part Chuck Berry, you know?"

There's a Thunders & Lloyd Stones-tribute gig from Max's Kansas City floating around
Worth tracking down for the cover of CS Blues alone

to put this even closer to the Stones - since a buddy and I gave thunders money that night in Boston (it was ugly), he gave us his "manager's" phone number in NY - this guy did little for JT but answer the phone, but we called once and he invited us to the now-defunct Gildersleeves (right near CBGB ) - JT *sort of* remembered us when we met him in the tiny dressing room--but the real story was the argument he was having in the room with his new (and very drugged out) producer - Jimmy Miller

Wasn't he in the MSG audience during the playing of JJF in the Gimme Shelter film? I seem to recall seeing a headshot in the crowd that was supposedly him.

I don't much about JT but if he was a Stones fan, he's cool in my book.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore.

Willy DeVille describes Johnny Thunders' death from a heroine overdose in a New Orleans hotel:

DeVille said about Thurders' death in the movie "Please Kill Me": "I don't know how the word got out that I lived next door, but all of a sudden the phone started ringing and ringing. Rolling Stone was calling, the Village Voice called, his family called, and then his guitar player called. I felt bad for all of them. It was a tragic end, and I mean, he went out in a blaze of glory, ha ha ha. So I thought I might as well make it look real good, you know, out of respect, so I just told everybody that when Johnny died he was laying down on the floor with his guitar in his hands. I made that up. When he came out of the St. Peter's Guest House, rigor mortis had set in to such an extent that his body was in a U shape. When you're laying on the floor in a fetal position, doubled over — well, when the body bag came out, it was in a U. It was pretty awful."

At least I've a mind to look inside of.

"And you ought to know you are showing up a arrow-minded,
ignorant twit-side of yourself! Hope you just have a bad-hair day."

Don't have any hair at present, didn't start petty name calling, at least being a twit is only a side of me as with you.......and what is "arrow minded'?

"Of course the Stones has absolutely nothin' in common with Dolls & Thunders.."

First correct thing you typed....

I thought I'd look for you last ten posts - ie threads you have started. This is within the past fortnight and of course does not include the OT posts removed by BV started by you...

Johnny Thunders Doin' Stones - which is in essence nothing more than a Johnny Thunders thread.
OT Semi-Forgotten And Forgotten Bands From The 70s, Rock
OT Singin' Drummers
OT Post A Peculiar/Groovy/Rare Clip Here
OT: Rod Stewarts New Soul-Album
OT: Happy Birthday, Lukester!
The Thread About Gospel
OT: The Criterias For Removal Of Threads?
OT: Time For A New Skynyrd-Thread'Bout Them Ole Skynyrd
OT - Post Forgotten Guitar Rock Clips From 70s, Preferably Stones-ish

You will note not ONE of these last ten posts are on topic.

I have no doubt you visit many sites 'dude'. Howabout sticking to them and stop spamming here. You post a thread and then more times than not are the first to respond to it. And then respond to it and then respond to it and then respond to it and then res.....

Yes, he WAS at the show, but that is NOT Johnny in that pic. He can be seen several times in Gimme Shelter, but if you purchased the 40th Anniversary Ya-Ya's box-set, you can see a very clear shot.

Page 39 of the hard-bound book. Look just north of dead center. There is a teenager with long, black hair. (To his immediate right is some frizzy-haired chick, parted in the middle). THAT is Johnny.

In Gimme Shelter, he can be seen several times on the shoulders of one of his buddies, wearing a bright red shirt. You can see him the the picture BELOW, standing up, to the left.

I miss that crazy guy!

But you can't put your arms around a memory . ., don't you?!

I'd seen him some weeks before his death and he had been in a very bad shape then.
