Hey Theif......I don't know. I've just seen that description many times here and have never headr it elsewhere. I would think with all his money, if it is true, he would be able to get medical treatment to take care of it.
don't give me that ole one two, one two three four
Surgery has been used successfully on some joints (WHAT?) like elbows and knees and some fingerjoints. However the success rate varies. If the surgery is not 100 % a success, it would be better not to go through with it. One might loose the controll of one's fingers. Terrible for a guitarist... So I guess we can say he's experiencing pain now and then. There are medicines that can remove the worst pain, from Imumetin to opiates... I would not recomend the latter. Pot is known to have a positive effect on some types of arthrithis and muscular diseases.
Arthritis the way Keith has it is both a degenerative disease, my granny had it too, and a consequence of years and years of alcohol abuse, my father had to quit drinking at 45 if he wanted to be able to still use his hands. You can quit alcohol but you can't quit a degenerative disease.
The inflamation and pain tends flare up periodically too. I'm sure it gives him more trouble at some times than at others. [Doesn't stop him playing effectively though. Having a hand burnt in a fire and two fingers virtually fused togther didn't stop Django Rheinhradt either did it ;^)]
