Difference between Flashpoint UMG and Virgin
Posted by: hockenheim95 ()

Hello,

I am listening to the Flashpoint and noticed that Jaggers spoken words between Brown Sugar and Jumping Jack Flash are longer than on my old CD. On the Virgin CD JJF starts directly after Yeah Yeah Yeah Whoo whoo whoo whoo, on the new UMG he says something with Tokyo after that. are there any other differences?

Two different mixes of "Sex Drive" (the reissue has the "Dirty Hands" mix).

Edited to add: sorry, just reread the subject line. The Virgin reissue had the Dirty Hands Mix; I don't know if they reverted to the original on the UMG or not, as I've not heard it.

The original Sex Drive is on the UMe from what someone posted on the live reissues thread.

The Virgin has the Tokyo, let's rock this mother to the max. Or whatever that is. Lame is what it is. But it's on the Virgin and not the CBS.

To just borrow this thread for a bit, the Wikipedia entry for Flashpoint lists several songs that were recorded during the same set of concerts and "released as B-sides". What do they mean released as B-sides?

>What do they mean released as B-sides?

I'm not sure I understand the question but briefly, what they mean is there were songs released on singles (mostly of the CD-single variety) that did not appear on the album. Several in fact, e.g. "Undercover Of The Night", "I Just Wanna Make Love To You", "Play With Fire", "Harlem Shuffle", "2000 Light Years From Home"... maybe more I don't recall right now.

Thank you, you've explained it. I didn't know they released singles of the Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle live recordings.

Yes, the Virgin pressing has the "Tokyo lets rock this mother to the max" line too. It's missing on the original Sony/CBS version however.

Worth adding I think: contrary to the insanely-flawed liner notes it is this version of IJWMLTY that appears on RARITIES.

Wish I still had it, but I've long since worn out my original Flashpoint cassette, but I am pretty certain that that had the Tokyo line on it....could be mistaken but I coulda sworn it did, and I got it when it was released, so it would have been the CBS one.....

I have bother CBS issues and that Tokyo line is not in it.
