Always enjoyed ry cooder.

I have a vinyl version of a live concert with great versions of dark end of the street and how can a man stand such times, but i have never seen this on a cd version. Does anybody know if this exsists?

Haven't heard too much of his recent stuff but Into The Purple Valley is a classic album as are Bop Till You Drop, Chicken Skin Music and Paradise and Lunch.

dont think its been released on CD

I;ve since altered this mix to include some track he did with the Pahinui Brothers from Hawaii and 1 from The Chieftains.

he's playing Glasgow " Celtic Connections" With the Chiftains.

Funny, Nanker, a friend of mine once asked me to cut him a cd with Cooder material. He had bought the Best of and I called mine for him "The Rest of", picking one example of almost each of those I have - as I don't have the Best of ("River Rescue"? - I only have most of the regular studio /and live/ albums).
Here's the list - no picks from live albums:
- Sure 'nuff 'n Yes I do (Captain Beefheart)
- Sister Morphine (Marianne Faithfull)
- Get Away (Performance Soundtrack, track written by Jack Nitzsche, mentioned some posts above by me)
- Highland Fling (Jamming With Edward!)
- One Meat Ball
- Denomination Blues
- Ax Sweet Mama
- It's All Over Now
- Smack Dab In The Middle
- Down In Hollywood
- Jesse James (The Long Riders soundtrack)
- Crazy 'Bout An Automobile
- Skin Game (The Border soundtrack with John Hiatt)
- I'm Drinking Again
- I Can Tell By The Way You Smell
- Dunore Lassies (with The Chieftains)
Leads me to the conclusion to put on my Little Village lp again - nothign taken from that?!

Little Village was sensational
Some really outstanding digital soundboards have surfaced lately that just put the LP to shame...

I was totally underwhelmed by the Little Village album at the time, saw them live as well and was equally dissapointed. Maybe my expectations were too high. I had Seen Ry a few years earlier (with hiatt in the Band) and it was one of the best gigs i'd been to. Hiatts's "Bring The Family" was and still is one of my favourite albums. I'd loved basher lowe right back to the Brinzley stuff, and Jime Keltners no mean drummer.

Saying that, on listening to it again when i did this mix, it was far better than I recalled. The best songs were Hiatt's it has to be said, but the playing of course was excellent.
They said afterwards that the should have reversed the sign that quincy jones put up when recording the american Live Aid song "leave your ego at the door" i.e it was too democratic.

Anyone here go to see the recent Ry gigs ? didnt Gazza have tickets ?
