In Charlie Is My Darling there's an Irish band called The Creatures. Never heard of them again but they looked real cool and had way long hair for 66.

From a Finnish point of view, The Beatles were unreachable, the legendary dangerous Rolling Stones visited the country in midsummer 1965 (a part of Finnish folklore now), but who really conquered the country were the guys from Birmingham, THE RENEGADES. In 1965 they won the FabFour and the Stones in the charts and pools and were the hottest thing on earth - in Finland, and to an extent in some other European countries, but I think they were totally unknown in their homeland, not to mention the States... Here they are, in Finland made promo film for their biggest hit "Cadillac":

And here is another 'big one'. Boy, that is what I call garage rock!

Here is some evidence that the hearts (and who knows what more) that were ready for John&Paul or Mick&Brian were occupied by those Birgingham lads (the drummer boy surely has had more influences from Keith Moon than from Charlie..):

Funny, I was thinking of the same, but then again: it seems like all the bands 'copying' the Stones turned out to sound more like The Pretty Things. Perhaps The Pretty Things also...

why compare with the Stones or anyone, uya like a lot of these Garage Bands, they were strongly influenced by the British Invasion" stones or otherwise,. just listen to NUGGETS and enjoy.

heres something pre-brit invasion featuring buddy holly on guitar who was big influence on a few ofb those brit bads, stones & beatles included. the brit invasion was really just returnig the music to its home and reminded the kids what its all about.

Iggy of course did this much later

Some Stones-inspired garage rock from the Northern Europe... This is the Creatures - a band that never made a record but were caught live for the film "Käpy selän alla" (1966)... also some typical Finnish drinking habits is presented there... (for Baboon Bro: the song is a Swedish original, and in drums is no else but Remu from the Hurriganes... the singer is 15 years old Kirka Babitzin, a very popular pop singer in Finland later)

This is the Garage band

But what about the album, Hot Hits & Hot Ones: Is This the Way That You Get Your High?

Below is a link to one of any number of sites that indicates Mick, Keith, Brian, and Bill were all unknown contributors. Does anyone know anything about it? I can't find this album in Wikipedia either. IF they are all on the album, I'd like to buy it, but if not, then I don't want to! smiling smiley

Love the Standells...keep their GREATEST HITS cd in my car and listen to it all the time.

Also love the Flamin' Groovies. I think any Stones fan would dig the album TEENAGE HEAD. (thanks for the tip about Chocolate Watch Band...heard their name a lot but not their music)

How about some love for THE SEEDS? Their legendary frontman, Sky Saxon passed awya last year (same day as MJ and Farrah, I think). RIP, Sky.
