Actually, I do see Face Book as a self inflicted invasion of privacy.....and a waste of time. Nevertheless, I'm knee deep into it. I've learned how to change my privacy settings to limit the stuff that I broadcast, and perhaps more importantly, the stuff that people broadcast to me.

Same with me Luke - I have it set so that not everyone can see everytime I update - if they are so inclined to go to my page, they can see it, but acquaintances do really need to see each one, I'm sure they don't care, I know I don't care about theirs. Some people post all freaking day - and I will usually block their comments. I post maybe once a day, sometimes not at all. i do like seeing what other people are up to that I don't talk to regularly, and it's great cuz I don't have to commit to an email conversation. Plus people add pics of their kids and it's nice to look at them when I feel like without having to deal with huge photos coming thru my regular email and feeling as though you have to write back and tell them how cute they are. On FB you don't have to write/look if you don't want to. It's a great way to troll your friends!

I did join the IORRians group, but in terms of adding new IORR friends, I dunno how I feel about that.... I generally only accept friend requests from people that I have actually know or have spoken to. I think myspace was ruined by everyone accepting everyone else and then having people use it to promote their music, sell shit etc. I know some of you posted on here that is what you want to use FB for, but I don't.

Yeah, MySpace and Facebook can both become addictive if one lets them.

It's just stupid shit. Want to talk to me? Face to face motherfuck (preferably without all the 'like, you know' bullshit I hear from so many people). Or call me. Or, gee, old skool it and send me an email. I'll never twit or twat or tweet either. Is that stuff really that important? Everyone now has a myspace and a facebook and a twitter (and videos on youtube - everyone's famous now - all those numbers about how many hits a video has does not exactly meant that). More shit to be 'busy' with. It's all shitspace. it went from email to...something else that requires typing anyway? Like, wow, you know? Language is a lost art, a lost necessity. Everyone's so busy doing those things they forget to live. There are bands that have all three THAT DON'T PLAY SHOWS! There are bands that have all three that still only get 30 people at a show. It's all just lazy convenience that, in the end, means nothing.

Ah ha ha ha ha. As you can see, it pisses me off. Just my 4 cents.

As for the twittering, i don't like it, and don't like the ego trip that goes with it, so I agree with you there.

As for the talking face to face, call me etc...
I hate talking - the older I get - the less I want to talk to anyone except my boyfriend or son. I'm not too busy, I just can't be bothered or I'm just plain too tired - even with my good friends, i hardly ever talk to them, just get together when I/they feel like it, which is hardly ever. I think a lot of people are that way nowadays.

People always say things such as "well if they were such good friends you would have kept in touch with them, so they couldn't have meant that much to you".

Not always the case - people move, get new jobs, have families - it's impossible to keep in contact with EVERYONE especially in different time zones - it doesn't mean you never want to know what is going on with them. If I think of my friend Anna Karin who lives in Sweden, but it's 10 PM, well I can't really call her at that point without being rude, with FB I can see what she's up to - I can tell her hi and if she's got anything going on, she'll write back, sometimes people just don't have anything of importance to say, or they don't think it's important enough to email you about...

Anyways - just trying to defend why it works for SOME people, obviously not everyone.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

For me,email, IORR and a few other selected sites are plenty to take up my time.
Ever since Twitter came along, I notice that Facebook has revved up their "wont' you join" PR. I am amazed at the many people who give out my email and want me on their Facebook page. Haven't heard from them in years. Assume they have time on their hands or are looking to win some kinda nutty popularity contest "most friends on my Facebook page."

Yes, Swaystones, no offense but I am also too busy to look at a photo of Jagger every day. I vividly remember him. Exception would be any Rockman pictorial offerings. That man is a genius!

And you got to know him when he was at his most sexy - i'm so envious. I would like to have those memories in my head.

Yep I'm on Facebook and I'm friends with Keith, Ronnie and Charlie. Mick mysteriously disappeared from the site. You can add to that list Al Pacino and half of my beloved footy team Aston Villa.

They're all genuine.

Honest.

Yeah - I'm a Keith girl first and foremost! But i can still admire other sexy men too - i don't think it bothers Keith that much when I admire others, but wouldn't it be awesome if he did! (insert schoolgirl daydreams where Keith is my boyfriend)

Ok, sometimes you want leave your hometown and say I don't want anything more to do with you. You move to another state, and these people try to find you. It didn't work growing up and it aint now. What is their problem? Is Facebook suppose to encourage relationships that were never meant to be?

I said I don't think he minds who I specifically admire - I would assume he feels differently about Anita & Patti (probably not so much Anita any more)

I'm on Facebook too. I'm trying to use it to reconnect with people from my past. Admittedly, I could also use just having more real friends who can expand my horizons a little bit. I will allow people from here to join my page/wall if you are nice to others as well as to me. I dive into personal things there too, but I also drop a lot of music stuff there as I live and breath music. If you do decide to join, please send me a message through their system letting me know that you are a member of IORR so that I don't absentmindedly hit the ignore option. Also, I will try to get a picture of myself up there one of these times. Just look up Stephen Talia in Eugene, Oregon.
