Ah yes ,Tops and Winter are also to add !

In reality ,I never really liked Mick's voice on Angie .

benon again
I know what you mean concerning Jagger's voice in the Shine A Light soudtrack .
There are some moments where it's obvious his voice had changed ....especially on Wild Horses .

100 Years Ago should be mentioned.

Warm, relaxed and mellow, blending with the clavinet, to wild, frantic, possessed - in tune with Taylor's Wah Wah. Sense of freedom and ease.

I think on the '73 and '74 albums his voice was best - and he could still really let it rip. By '75 and '76 the ravages of smoking were becoming evident.

Since '85 he's been looing after his voice and keeping it trained - but he hasn't got and won't ever have again the real wild aspect, letting it go - for fear of doing damage.

Gotta agree with T&A. This used to be one of my faves from ABB; one of the few redeemers. But then I realized that IMO it is phoney.

I do agree with T&A and Palace Revolution .

Mick's voice is too "shivered" and "overdo " -couldn't find a better translation for what I meant -

Pity...

Rocks Off
Wild Horses

I'd personally select these:

Fingerprint File
'Til the Next Goodbye
Lady jane
Saint of Me
Melody

I've always felt that Mick's voice is pretty adaptable and he can comfortably handle ballads, slow blues and the more "rockier" cuts. I also like his "Mockney" affectation on Mothers Little Helper and Where The Boys Go.

... on "Laugh [...]":

I see all of your points-
but I dó like it; both the song ànd the way Jagger sings it...
I definitely hear him trying for something 'genuine'. (maybe says more about Jagger 'personae' then about my musical taste; but anyhow. smoking smiley
And I like the backing harmonies/ arrangements. That's 100% Jaggers' voice(-s); and after all ... that was the topic of this thread.

Mán I can hardly wait for that next Tour.

To have something decent to talk about... smiling bouncing smiley

Laugh I Nearly Died is a great example of why the Stones will very likely never record a fully satisfying song/performance again because Mick's voice has completely lost its delicate touch as it has got lower with age. Just listen to the Sticky Fingers version of Wild Horses - he doesn't sing like that any more.

i agree and the comparison/contrast you cite is spot-on.

however, the off-the-cuff vocal on She Saw Me Coming gives me faint hope that somewhere in the recesses of his abilities, "it" is still there....

Good point T&A. This is why "Oh No No You" e.g, one of my least favorite songs from ABB has become one of the few that I can still listen to.
In a way Jagger has painted himself into a corner. He's got t find the few areas left to him, where he can sing from a point of view of honesty.
I actually thought "Brand New Set of Rules" was pretty good.

On those early R&B/soul numbers his interpretation of black American music at such a young age is nothing short of brilliant!
