My parents went to see them a couple of weeks ago. They were a bit shocked at first to see no Dave, but apparently it was an excellent show

I saw them support Eric Clapton at the Glasgow Apollo back in 1981 and they were the perfect (if unlikely) support.

I saw them play in Swindon. Both of them sat with us in the pub next door to the venue having a pint before show time.

After the gig you could meet and greet and get a signed CD for a tenner!

Class!!!

Dave was a great bass player. Will be missed

I heard it on the Radio5Live News.
I saw them many a time when I lived in London , saw the recording of Live at Abbey Road, loads of times at various music pubs , always packed out and always a great show.
Saw them first as a support to 10cc at Hammersmith Odeon ( as was then ), friends of mine had persuaded me to go see 10cc who were promoting the album after Original Soundtrack , and I remember 2 things , one was that Lol Creme had his guitars stolen a days or so before the gig and two , the support was Chas and Dave .

Also opened at Knebworth in '79 on the (2nd) Led Zeppelin gig that also included the New Barbarians as one of the support acts, iirc.

They were a superb "good time" act who had certain unique british qualities about them.

I shall miss them.

I always thought it was Chas who was the bassist? That was his instrument pre-Chas and Dave. He was the bassist in the Outlaws, alongside Ritchie Blackmore

When I left college I was a roadie for the Barron Knights for a christmas tour and on one date Chas & Dave were the co-headliners. Fantastic gig and great guys as well.

Done my research! He was indeed the pianist of the duo!

Still played bass with the Outlaws, though - right about something, at least!

I passed up more than a couple of opportunities to catch Chas and Dave. They opened for The Libertines at a local pub back in '03 and have made a few apearances in my local area since. I regret not going now.

Here is the e-letter from the 100 Club -

A message from Chas Hodges regarding the Chas & Dave show at the 100 Club on October 9th:

"Sadly Dave's beloved wife Sue passed away in July this year after over 30 years of blissful marriage. Understandably Dave has taken his loss very badly and he hasn't the heart to continue gigging and with regret he has decided to retire from the music business.

"But with his support, I shall be taking over the 100 Club show which will contain all the Chas & Dave hits & more.

"Here's to my friend's future health & happiness. In the meantime, come down & enjoy a great show on October 9th!
Chas
=====

CHAS & HIS BAND are CHAS HODGES (Piano/ Lead Vocals), MICKY BURT on Drums and DARREN JUNIPER on Bass Guitar. Darren is the son of an old school friend of Chas, the man who introduced Chas to Dave years ago, a story Chas relates on stage.

The 100 Club show on October 9th will continue as normal and be the same as the Chas & Dave show - just without Dave.

Unfortunately, the Xmas Beano at the Electric Ballroom on December 10th has been cancelled. Please apply to ticket source for a refund.

Until next time
cheers
Jim
