Love the sound.
here's Clifton Chenier and Flaco Jiminez who played on Voodoo Lounge.
i've seen him here in Berlin once - man, it rocked.
sry, Clifton was probably somewhere in the bunch of clips i watched

Nice video, open-g, but I don't see Clifton in that one.

Here's Clifton Chenier at the 1977 New Orleans Jazz Festival: [www.dailymotion.com]

Hell yeah!

Johnnie Allan, a pioneer of "Swamp Pop" music.
A little more Rock n Roll than Zydeco, and a lot more RnR than Cajun.

Sugar Bee recorded for the Goldband label in 1960 was the first Cajun record to enter the Hot 100 charts

My band's tribute to the music of the region. The song is original.

I was there, right in front. Got to talk to him after the gig. It was a good show but a little slow. And all the Bon Jovi fans sitting around with their rolls of fat and terrible hair proved that there are slower, dumber and redundant species on the planet.

Love the sound. Happy music. Hold on. I'm going to get a beer and some spicy shrimp.

Jagger should hang around N'Orleans and see if he can conjure some inspiration. He speaks French, right?

Got lucky,

Just scooped two tix in the front row (D) - they normally hold the front row for wheelchair users and if the places are not taken up until a couple of weeks before the show, then they release them. Front 3 rows have been removed for this gig, to make dance space

Is the assumption that French is a heavily spoken language in New Orleans?

HA HA HA HA HA HA!

I've no idea. Is it, or is it not ? You seem to know - share it with us.

Well, if I can interject here, the answer to that would be a resounding NO.

There is a dialect of French spoken in south Louisiana however, despite what this article claims, not in New Orleans (that I know of).
