From Rocks Off, FotiniD reviews her concert in Athens past Friday.
She seems to be in good shape.
Btw thats not Athens, Georgia, which I presumed, but the real one.
Or at least the older one. Venue was: Theater Vrachon Melina Merkouri.
(Before, she sung at Ancient Odeum of Patras; Mylos - Babylonia in
Thessaloniki & Lycabettus Theatre Athens.)
The Ormskirke-born lady (outside Liverpool, that is; tremendous place, I could reveal: and it means Snake´s Church in the Toungue Of The Honour And Heroes) (b 29th of Dec, 1946) is still goin strong; she even brought Lenny Kaye on stage.
...And did ya all know that among songwriters and co-this & that at her last album she had Pj Harvey, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds & Damon Albarn of Blur.
Not a new pic. But borrowed from ebay & buyable for some 7-9$.

In a few words? Midnight summer's dream
She was amazing. I really can't understand people who bash her. She's got a
voice that can sing the darkest story and yet bring it around with a sense of
wit and irony. Just amazing.
I always find it hard to write a proper review when I've really, really enjoyed the gig I loved listening to "The Mystery of Love" from her new album, I think it's a really powerful song and the resuls of mixing PJ Harvey's work with Marianne's voice and performance are unique. "Don't Forget me" was great, she did a haunting version of "Working Class Hero" and "Guilt" was superb as well. "No child of mine" was a bit weird, cause she had to do both the lead and "second" vocals herself, but it wasn't actually bad, just funny. And what can I really say about "As Tears go By" or "Sister Morphine"?

He's spot on about that P.J. Harvey track; it's a killer.
The Stones really ought to bring her on for a number or two (As Tears Go By & Sister Morphine?) on the upcoming tour: she'd be the ultimate surprise guest.
