Keith Riff-thief (?): Your fav´ riffs July, 2005

COuld you say Keith´s - at times - a gentleman riff-burglar?
Hey, wait; you know this threads´ starter is a Keithist, more than
most users here. But as such an incredibly innovative riff-maker
ha gotta make some borrowings (at least of fragments).

Please post your fav´s among his riff - primarily those that can be traced
back or simultaneously in rock history (do add, if you know or if you can figure out, the inspiration or parts of inspiration):

My own July list, so far -

1. Citadel (All Day and All Of The Night - the Kinks, Hello I Love You The Doors)
2. JJF (Satisfaction?)
3. All Down The Line
4. Rocks Off
5. I´m Going Down (Free?)
6. If You Can´t Rock Me (slightly Mick Ronson-/Ziggy Stardust-ish?)

I think this is a bit of a hair-splitting exercise. There's not a lot of room for complete originality within the framework of 3-chord rock'n'roll. I'd say all riffs are derivatitve of all those that came before them! How's that for a response!

Sounds fair, T&A. But didnt you notice I was also curious about a list of your fav' riffs right now, never mind the thiefing part!
Can you put some fav´riffs together, T&A?

TD is by far my favorite riff. BS, JJF, HTW, Sat, ADTL....they're warhorses for a reason, ya' know....

Keith has ripped himself off more than anyone else. JJF and Satisfaction are the same riff inverted. Lets Spend The Night Together, Cloud, Breakdown are all variations of Satisfaction. HTW, YCAGWYW, Tumbling Dice, Knocking, all the way up to Flip The Switch and Stealin' My Heart, are all similar. There has never been a guy who has gotten so much mileage out of a couple of notes and more incredibly used them as the basis to make very distinctive, different sounding and successful songs.

"Keith has ripped himself off more than anyone else."
(Milo, above). Maybe Chuck Berry is slightly worse there.
And the Status Quo dudes. ZZ Top. AC/DC.

Actually, apart from what I posted above, I think he´s one of the most innovative riffsters in the rock world, especially in the trad school.

Forgot some fav´s, bur I come in with them when I´m back from the countryside.

How can you forget "Happy"? That's a great one. From the solo era: "How I Wish".
