Just got discs 1-2. This is great stuff. I haven't heard a lot of these songs before. The song that really stands out for me right now is Separatley. This is a really different sounding song for the Stones. The bass is great. Is this an MT song? Also, did MT play on Waiting on a Friend?

These 2 discs could be edited down into one and be a great official release! Should Have Seen her Ass or Save Me (Criss Cross) could be the first single(s).

I would welcome any insight to any of the songs on these discs.

those songs were left off albums for one simple reason in most cases - they werent good enough.

theres a certain 'forbidden fruit' appeal to almost every Stones outtakes which make people think they're wonderful BECAUSE they werent released. in the vast majority of cases, if those songs had appeared on an official release in the form that we've heard them, the Stones would have rightly been pilloried.

Not always the case. After all, Tattoo You was largely outakes. If they took many of these songs and finished them up, then who knows?

I agree with sjs12. Songs from this disc are outtakes that become great songs, Waiting on a Friend, Hang Fire, Black Limo etc. It's not "forbidden fruit", it's just new stuff to listen to. Let's face it Save Me and Should Have Seen are good rockers and with some work, would be better than a lot of the stuff they have put out recently. They naturally couldn't release the songs as is on this disc.

I'm sure that "Save Me" would've been great in an album like Emotional Rescue..

yeah but in your original post Cafaro you didnt say they could be reworked, rerecorded, rewritten and remixed as the songs on "Tattoo you" were, for example.

You said the songs on this double disc could be edited down into one and it would be a 'great' release. the songs in the form that they're in on those bootlegs ARENT anywhere near releasable in most cases.

It goes without saying that unfinished ideas can be moulded into something worthwhile at a future date.

Much of "Exile" for example was originally recorded in 1969 and 1970

For whatever my opinion is worth....

I've always found Gazza to be one of the most knowledgable, helpful and friendly posters on this board. I've seen him patiently answer questions that have been asked and answered a million times before. I had a question once about easytree, emailed him privately, and he responded with a very nice informative reply that told me a lot more than I had asked-for.

So...I also don't see what's up with all the un-necessary flames. I'm glad that our good Irish friend is not losing any sleep over it!
