Liam Gallagher declared :"....

"Oasis is the best rock'n'roll band in the world" !
the little @#$%& ! he forgot to think that he wouldn't be here without the Beatles and the Stones..
They'd better hurry to finish their tour before the road roller "Rolling Stones" falls head over heels...they have just a few months left !
or maybe should they wait for the Stones tour to end up next year before starting to make some noise around ?!!

REM also declared themselves to be the best rock'n roll band...so did U2 (!)...
Aerosmith have been much smarter, declaring themselves America's greatest rock band...

I know there are a lot of Oasis fans around here; but to me they are
less than a parenthesis in rock history. Trance Dance, Sigue Sigue Sputnik & Whambambam are as big... BeeGees is way above, as is the Zombies, the Troggs, the Hollies - yeah even the Sweet is lookin´ way down on these chaps.
I´d rather listen to hundreds of shady, lousy boots with the Stones with crap sound than a half disc with these imitators... Christ sake, I even rather grab a Roxette record than this @#$%& shite.

After copying many Beatles and Stones melodies, Liam should be quiet.
If he want there are many Stones unrealeased songs as 'Living in the heart of Love' or 'Criss Cross mind' to copy for the next album!
....Congratulation for the beginning of new single 'Layla'....""Ev'rywhere I hear the sound of marching, charging feet, boy""" !!!!!!!!

Yes you're right...But it will be funny to see them play to an empty stadium...While everybody's just getting ready for the real act...The Stones

You seriously think Oasis would even CONSIDER opening for the Stones? They'd turn them down flat. They are far too big.

They're shows across the UK and Europe sell out in minutes and for a band which supposidly STRUGGLE in America, they did pretty well selling out Madison Square Garden in two hours.

"Far too big" to open for Stones... Oasis.
This day offered more laughs that I could imagine.

Well, I didn't mean that Oasis are BIGGER than the Stones. If I'd declared that, then you really WOULD have reason to laugh!

What I was trying to emphasise is that Oasis are too big to be a support band and I'm pretty sure they haven't supported anyone for 10 plus years now.

I guess I just get a little sick of the Oasis bashing on these Stones boards. I feel it is more to do with the personalities of the Gallagher brothers than they're actual music.

They’re new album is excellent.

I agree with Big Al on this one.

I would think that anyone who's in a major band would think that they're the best r'n'r band in the world. Sure generates alot of hype and publicity by saying it, especially when Oasis has a new album/tour coming up.

Also, if AC/DC can open for the Stones, trust me Oasis isn't too big!

As far as Oasis bashing, I personally like the band and I think their first two albums are classics. However, this is a Rolling Stones site so I'm sure every other band has been bashed at one point or another here, just as I'm sure the Stones have been bashed on other band websites.

Gszza said something similar about Bruce The Boss Springsteen.
It´s a little easier to picture him not wanting to support anyone.

I think it has to do with time perspective...
Bruce has been around in the super troopers since 74-75;
Oasis is a new band in my eyes.
Back in 96 or slt the Spice Girls would have been too big to
consider being a support act... Today Oasis, and maybe Rob Williams
would be judged as too big.

On the other hand ANY band could be support act to the Stones...
And we all know why (' cause they are the fookin Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band In The World!!!).

I prefer tSOOL before Oasis in the imitation segment.
But... If you get me some fair recommendation (most likely
something downloadable... For free... ) among Oasis catalog,
I may change my mind or start to like them.
To be honest, I havent heard much more than the major hits.

You mean OASIS is bigger than AC/DC? They did not have a problem with opening for the stones, guess it was a bash for them. Sherryl Crow? Must have sold more records than OASIS, no?
However, can't blame a brit band to stirr it up over and over. Gallaghers seem to be some snoddy pricks and i'm happy that they got their noses bleeding in Munich, most of all places. Halleluja.
Stones should anyway put more care in their opening bands.

Oasis are far better than the stones live.. their new album though is pure crap!

Re: Liam Gallagher declared :"....

<Oasis are far better than the stones live.. >

Yes, if you like the band members standing still for 2 hours and crappy guitar playing. Noel Gallagher is the biggest rip off ever. Every guitar player knicks some, but he is too bad - he knicks every lick...

I like Liam's attitude though, but it doesn't suit the lazy music...

Oasis are better live than the Stones.
What absolute contrite s-it and suggests that you live in Another Land.
Oasis are pretty good live but not in the same class as the Stones who do not borrow or steal riffs from other peoples songs and call them their own.
There are so many songs in the Oasis catalogue ,borrowed or should one say stolen from others. (eg Stones,Beatles,Kinks etc)
Perhaps Alan Klein might be interested in persuing Oasis over the copy of Street Fighting Man.
This is unlikely as Alan Klein is a very wealthy man
thru owing copywright to Stones songs from 1962-1971.
The Gallagher Bros have to be admired for creating a sound interwoven from over a dozen bands creative work.
Originality deserves to receive credit whilst copying
others and publishing songs as their own only deserves contemp.

There are TWO white Rock N Roll bands in this world today that got it all (music, swagger, looks and attitude) and whose members are truly interested in taking care of the great legacy of good music (Staples, Bukka White, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, Faces, Etta James, Tosh and Marley etc etc).

Funnily enough they're both from England:

Rolling Stones and Oasis.

Oasis actually opened for U2 on several outdoor US shows a tour or two ago (I think it was the Popmart tour)

even as someone who has liked Oasis' music since their first record, I cant agree with that by any stretch of the imagination.

I've seen them in a club, in an arena and outdoors and theres no comparison. A good live band, yes - but to compare their performing skills to the Stones is laughable IMO

For all his bolshy attitude and hype, Liam Gallagher has all the showmanship and stage movements of a gnat compared to Jagger. Plus his singing voice cant handle the strains of performing a concert at full throttle. Jagger never sang better onstage than he did on the last tour.

Of the 100 or so bands I've seen live so far in my life, Oasis has been by far the worst of any big name band. And that was when they opened for the Black Crowes in 2001. Dreadfully boring. They acted as if they could not have cared less about their performance. I felt like demanding half my ticket price back.

I was amazed at how all the Oasis fans disappeared after their set and how many more Black Crowes fans arrived during intermission. The only problem I had with the Crowes performance was that they shortened their set to accomodate Oasis. What a waste.
