EXCLUSIVE: Charlie Watts Quits The Rolling Stones

Undercover has learned that Charlie Watts has quit The Rolling Stones.


A source within the Stones inner-circle says, “Charlie Watts has quit the band. He will never record or tour with the band again”.

The news does not come as a surprise. It was common knowledge that Keith Richards had to talk Charlie into contributing to the A Bigger Bang tour but this time it seems there is no calling Charlie back to active duty.

“The Stones are looking to Keith's Expensive Winos drummer Charlie Drayton to fill the void in all future Stones' callings,” our source says.

With Mick Jagger planning more Stones activity next year, the departure of Charlie will be a huge blow to the band. Charlie was the backbone of the band.

The 68-year old drummer simply doesn't want to do it anymore.

Charlie joined the Rolling Stones in January, 1963. He didn’t expect it would last. In fact, he kept his day job for several months until the band started to feel like a career.

Charlie’s decision to quit the band comes a three years short of the Stones 50th anniversary.

The Stones A Bigger Bang tour ran from August 2005 to August 2007. It was the highest tour of all-time.

Sad news, but not entirely unexpected.

Well, I think Charlie has a gig tonight in or near Southampton, or not far from Wittering... There might be some tickets left.
Why not go and see his show - and fall down on your knees - and say: Ain't too proud to beg! Please, stay. We love you too much to see you leaving without trying to make you stay. It's like a divorce, suddenly it's through, and you think: Could we have prevented this.
So, everyone in southern England, you know what you must do. And thanks!

But if he "simply doesn't want to do it any more" then how come he is out there drumming and touring with a big smile on his face right now?

One source says they're going on tour again, the other says Charlie has quitted? We need a 3rd one...

I heard him say - on camera - "It's a lot better touring with the Stones, hanging out with people I like, than sitting at home, being afraid to get cancer again".
Perhaps he's just going to keep his little jazz act going now and then - but I hope he changes his mind and stays...

If true, this IS likely the end of the Stones...
And with Keith´s finger problems, it´s probably just as well...

They´ve been a big part of my life since i was 10 (in 1965), so very sad indeed.

He looked *extremely* contented last night playing with his little boogie-woogie band. Maybe that's all he wants now - but we all hope NOT.

If you'd read the news story, you'd have seen that Charlie Drayton of the X-pensive Winos is replacing Charlie on the next tour.
I suggest you use the link in the first post and read the story, to prevent any further confusion.
