What songs by other Brit Groups Sound Like the Stones

THey influenced their peers, and fellow musicians paid their respects by emulating The Stones sound....lets think and list some...

The Kinks- Catch Me Now I'm Fallin', probably the most blatant nod to the Stones.

The Beatles-Baby's In Black...play this at a party and non fans will think it is the stones. Day Tripper, in interviews the fab said Satisfaction inspired them on this one as did What I Say Pt 1 and 2.

The Who- Well not only did they record 2 of the Stones songs, but did a few of the same covers, like Fortune Teller. I Can't Explain has all the swagger of the Stones...

Bowie- Also loved the Stones, did Lets Spend The Night Together, but a lot of his glam stuff reeks of Stones. Rebel Rebel, pure stones! Also Suffragette City, and Panic In Detroit, monster riffs just like Keif!

Who else, lets learn...

Baby's in Black, IMO sounds nothing like the Stones. It's in 6/8 and comes from the Beatles' close harmonies period; really great vocals. Not the Stones bag.
I don't hear the Stones in any of the mentioned songs. maybe it was intended; I don't know, but to me Ronson, or the Who had their own thing going.
The Faces when they did country-ish tunes had some Stones sound.
Primal Scream, from time to time on a couple albums. Deadtsring Bros, the Novaks.
Early Van Morrison; it's more like jagger sounds like him than viceversa.

London Quireboys - 7 o'clock, among others - Maybe more of a Faces/Pie vibe though.

As a resident Who-geek I will say that I Can't Explain has little in common with the Stones, but A LOT in common with the Kinks (as much admitted to by its author, and its sound). As for the Who's version of Fortune Teller, I gotta say they gave it their own unique sound, much different from the Stones version.
One thing though that the at least Pete Townshend took from the Stones was his trademark windmilling:
In December 1963, the Detours opened for the Rolling Stones. Here, Townshend watched the Stones guitarist, Keith Richards, casually swing his arm in a wide arc over the guitar as a warm up. From this, Townshend created the windmill guitar strum earning the nickname, "Birdman."from:

Can't hear the Stones in any of those...wow! Well Catch Me Now I'm Falling is pure Stones, they rip off the riff from Jumping Jack Flash, almost note for note! Rebel Rebel is also very stonesy.

The Troggs only sound like The Troggs. And Wild Thing's brilliant, but despite the little flute part in the middle, not even close to sounding "stonsey".

Absolutely. And for once, even the voice sounds like Jagger. Could have been a follow-up to Undercover Of The Night. Well, thats in fact what I first believed when I heard it on a tiny transistor radio back then!

Regarding Them,a friend of mine was briefly acquainted with Morrison some years ago and i'm pretty sure he's not much of a stones fan, certainly not a Keith fan.

The Animals had a similarity to the Stones, a lot of blues influence and interesting arrangements. A cool band.

Believe it or not - Cornershop!
"Who Fingered Rock n Roll" from their new album "Judy Sucks A Lemon For Breakfast":

"As we say in England, it can get a bit trainspottery"

And not forgetting this from seven years ago:

"As we say in England, it can get a bit trainspottery"

There's only one..."See You Later" on the Fresh Out Of Borstal album. A true scream.

Whitem8 - try "Give Out But Dont Give Up" by Primal. Unlike most other stuff by them it is very stonesy. Most Primal hardcores dismiss it a sbeing too stonesy.
And do you really not hear any Jagger in early Van Morrison and Them?

Way, way back (grade school '60's) this came on the transistor radio and I remember thinking 'yeah...that's a new Stones song!....might seem ludicrous now but back then it seemed to fit...no?

The only early Brit band raunchier than the Stones...The Pretty Things w Dick Taylor on bass, original Lil Boy Blue & The Blueboys, Mick & Keiths mate from Dartford

To me, that whole (early) Manchester rave scene got practically everything from that one groove, the "Sympathy For The Devil"-one.
Without that, no Happy Mondays, KLF, Stone Roses etc.
May seem like turning on two wheels a bit, this one; but hat's how I felt ever since I first heard those rave sounds/songs.
