For me it is. The most inspired song of the Stones since 89. And the live performance ate MSG is an highlight of the recent stones history.

i'm really amazed how many ppl seem to love this song. i'm clearly in the minority; i don't. the song really annoys me, in fact. i'm even annoyed just talking about it - i'm annoyed by the post itself!

that's a strong statement but considering that the stones have only released 4 studio albums in the past 20 yrs there's not many to pick from

It´s slow, lacks melody, too long and drags. Still, it´s something about it that I like. But, no, nowhere near of being the best stones song since 89, imo. How Can I Stop is far better.

The worst thing is you can hear Keith's false set of teeth rattling about, which makes him lisp.

I also really don't like this one.
We deliver?
We do takeaway?

What?

Was he hungry?

Just stop it and start the CD over again...

Mesmerizing track! One of the real humdingers of the latter days. It's great, and that song proves their evolution.

The Stones can't win.....they record something different than the warhorses, a song that is a lot more than just interesting, it has its own mood and pace, evokes strong emotions, and builds up.... and many fans say no.

I like the choir in the 2nd part - and the chords fit well if just strumming them while thinking about other things....but the lyrics and the "tension" that is supposed to be builded up while Keith waiting for the next takeaway-call seems bizarre to me...

lots of songs are "different" - doesn't mean they are any good. SOL was different - another case in point.

Most songs are different, but T&T was a pretty big deviation, and imo happens to be good as well as different.
I am not a big fan of SOL but don't dislike it as much as most people here seem to. I know some very hardcore fans that like it a lot more than I do.

of course. diff strokes and all that. i was merely countering the idea that being different necessarily mandates appreciation.... i would hazard a suggestion that many of not most of the stones best tunes are hardly ground-breaking....

Yes, it is notable and I agree that a song that is different can't rely on its "different" as assurance that it's good.....and I am a big fan of Down in the Hole.

The funny thing to me over the eras is that Keith's output seems to be restricted to the songs he sings. Less quantity but more quality! If I ever stand up to get a beer in a concert it would be if the band plays (the band plays, not Keith sings that's out of discussion) songs like Wanna Hold You, Little T&A

Well. I think many of their songs from today are quite different from the earlier years. Start Me Up could never be made today, but on the other hand, Thru & Thru could not be made back then either. Now I see many people flippin' that off with "the muse has left the building", but to me it's just another turn in their evolution. That's why I also cannot get on the get-back-to-basics-and-play-Berry-tunes boat.

yeah, i figured it was something like that. one could argue devolution vs. evolution, but i won't go there....

Uh no, not the best one. But it's real real good.

Couple of points:

- they closed a Sopranos episode (season?) w/ T & T, so like it's got that going for it.

- KR may be the only guitar-player-in-a-band to have created a musical genre (keef songs, for lack of a better term), no?

yeah, and SOL had a regular run on Days of Our Lives going for it....

One of their worst since 89. (but to be fair to 'them' it's Keith's fault)

The only 'good' bit is the ending but you have to endure an awfully painful and crass 'build-up' to this 'climax'

A suitable culmination for a generally crap album I suppose.

Great song!

I love it's minimalist approach; it helps add to the tension.

...a classic!

I love it, and How Can I Stop. Both superb.

Thgere is just something about Thru and Thru, not 'technically' the best song ever, but packs a punch.
