Well now you can add "Before The Frost" The Black Crowes. Great stuff. Dont see how any fan of great rock and roll will not like this. I love it already. Doesnt even need to grow on me.

The Black Crowes have to be among the most overrated bands ever. Their first couple of albums were allright. But since then, they have absolutely sucked ass.

Overrated ? They are not even popular enough anymore to even be overrated. Just good rock and roll. Thats all it is. Who's doing this rating anyway ? Crowes hit and miss just like any other band that is brave and attempts new things. Great band live and in the studio. The best pure rock band out there today.

You're likely right, Tod. Just haven't got any further than Sly yet. So much music, so little money. Johnny's next...

and the new 6cd woodstock set is nice - although it's not comprehensive - adds to the 25th anniv set, but oddly excludes about a dozen trax present on that earlier release. on the new set, some of the best new stuff is the chip monck announcements...

The Rhino box looks nice indeed. Unfortunately the price local retailers are asking for it isn't

I can't really say because there are worthy contenders I haven't heard, or haven't heard enough to judge.

The Wilco continues to grow on me after a few listens, though...that's usually a good sign.

That Lonesome Song by Jamey Johnson sounds like Waylon Jennings, raw country album far from pop country, viva country!!

You have listed a few good ones from 2010 there, but this thread is really about albums from 2009.

The 2010 albums haven't sunk in as much as last years' have, so I'll prefer listing my picks for 2009:

Backyard Tire Fire - Good To Be
Blackberry Smoke - Little Piece Of Dixie
The Flatlanders - Hills And Valleys
The Fabulous Thunderbirds (2nd self titled CD, sold in the merch section of their website)
Paolo Nutini - Sunny Side Up
