Actually, 5 of the pics are from Ove, the rest are from me, so if someone knows the photographers namne, I would like to give him credit. But it´s 40 years ago, so chances are probably slim.

Great photos, again!

It is also funny reading those brief remarks what 'else' happened during that visit. I seemed like that always SOMETHING 'extra curricular activities' happened at those times (like '70, '73..); now Brian losting his passport, the guys almost missing the gig because of the beer, Mick performing with dark glasses due to his black eye (caused by a flying chair)... They call it rock and roll!! And all it sounds so fresh and natural and non-intentive long before turning to a cliche .. or strict disciplined business.

What about adding the Finnish concerts also? Their first concert here, in Pori Yyteri beach, midsummer 1965, marked a big part in the Finnish Stones folklore (and a big turn in general Finnish rock history), the event is also covered by funny stories. Keith Richards even remembered the gig over 20 years later (he described the place with sand and pine trees etc. in his 1988 Finnish television interview!).

Their second visit was in Helsinki Olympic stadium 1970 - their first stadium gig ever - and was also combined by some rioting (though I think most due to high ticket prices..)

The third was not until 25 years later, 1995, and also marked some sort history as far as Finland is concerned. The concert - with some 50 000 tickets - was sold out in few hours and thereby opened the road for big acts to use Helsinki stadium as a concert venue (before the Stones some big names like Dire Straits - I think - had tried use it but were forced to cancel the gig due to poor ticket sells). And I WAS THERE!

After that they've been here in 1998 and 2003 (and former was a great gig - as 1995 - while the latter one being the worst sort of autopilot show) with seemingly decreasing interest from the big audience (even if they added act like ZZ Top to support them). I suppose they will not include Helsinki in their next tour. The demand is satisfied, and the market emptied.

I read the book Rolling Stones i Sverige, and I'm not too good at swedish language... anyway, a good book, nicely printed, lots of great pics and funny little stories like the 1970 suburbs trip.

Rorty and Doxa, I am a member of NSV and living in Vaasa Suomi (Finland) You bet there will be pages with pictures from ALL Finnish Stones gigs on our home page
I am working on the thing for the moment. One of the more exiting things are rumors on pictures taken in Yyteri midsummer 1965 that have never been published. I am just now following up on those ones
