CNN and MSNBC are playing a clip of Michael Jackson rehearsing at the Staples Center (in Los Angeles) from a few days ago. It's a dress rehearsal so it must be pretty recent (I think the news guy said it was 2 days before he died). I gotta say that he looked fine, not like some burned out 50 + year old man. Moving and Singing (I believe the song was "THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US" - something like that) as concerts in years past. I don't know how many shows he was suppose to do per week (50 total, I know that) but if he would have kept it down to 2 to 3 per week and toured the world (50 cities - or 25 major cities x 2 - , 50 shows, 50 years old) and spread it out I'm sure he could have pulled this off. I don't get what is up with these people that had seen the rehearsals and said he was a wreck..... just don't see it....

The footage I've seen like I said is the best I've seen him look in a long time. He looked incredible! Time to rush home and catch this! Thanks much!

Don't see what you are talking about - and somehow think he missed a great opportunity to straighten things out (in every respect) but read that musicians were quoted as esperiencing him to be "lethargic".

Its kinda hard to tell with such a small snippet(IMO) cause he didnt look too energetic to me. But if he had been at it a good while I'm sure my opinion would change.

Now, I've seen the video. To be frank: He became a robot and lost being a musician. As a musician he would have enjoyed the spontaneity of 50 comeback shows. As a robot it killed him.

MJ was a little bad-ass. I don't see the robotic-ness. That was his thing; the kind of shows he did. He was good at it. While he looks very much like he is at rehearsal, I think he looks pretty good. Only Prince could beat him up.

Again with Jennifer Batten on guitar? She was great with Jeff Beck some years ago.

Sad that he died and those shows will never happen. He didn't look like a guy ready to die based on that clip. Maybe more will surface and we'll see him moonwalking the shit outta that stage.

Considering I read an expert report stating he couldn't sing, dance etc. this aint half bad.

I'm no fan whatsoever but having watched that I do feel a certain sadness that he never got the chance to perform live again and bring some pleasure to his audience.

I am a big fan - but this video is all I feared the shows would be. Firstly, it's definitely playback (you even hear the two superimposed voices from the studio version at the end). Secondly, Michael does no dance move at all, apart from a little shoulder wriggling by the end, and oddly shaking before the guitar player.

I thought from the start that the shows would be playback with choreographed dancers covering Michael's limits (I guess we were many to think this); I am sorry he died, but not sorry that the shows did not take place... And even if he had lived, it's doubtful they would have.

He looked very healthy in that clip. Sad, that he's gone now.

The "walking through the motions" effort may be attributed to the fact it's only a rehearsal. Also, that may not be a premier song of the set list. On all other accounts I believe you are correct.

What disturbed me moreso was the guitar solo that didn't seem to fit the fingers. It may be related to Michael's odd movement in front of the guitar as if he were providing camouflage.

Would be strange if the guitar solo was playback. If it is indeed Jen Batten on guitar I shouldn't think so. She quite skilled.
