correct me if I am wrong but the great Chris M's website has a "coming soon" section....play the Altamont audio....what do you think?

I have NEVER heard of the Sam Cutler/Mick Jagger intro to this show. It sounds soundboard to me...where is the rest!!?

there is hope...

Awesome!!! Finally, the full intro to JJF from Altamont!

It's definitely the real one - slowest '69 version of JJF by far and Keith is drowning everyone else out, just like we who attended remember!

Keef must have been leaning more toward the opiates than the coke that night, since JJF seems a tab slowwwww

"From Britain, The Rolling Stones"... Sam sounds knackered.
Maybe this is from the leaked tape stone-relics hinted at a couple of months ago??

Just so you all know, I'm not the fabled Chris M whop created this great site. When all is said and done I'm a simple country boy with simple country needs and wants.

Altamont must be available in SB as god awfull sounding umpteenth generation copy of the original soundboard tape did circulate a while back within tape traders. It had the first 8 or 9 songs.

The pitch/speed(??) does seem to be off, doesnt it? I know it sounds too clean to be aud but Taylor Era does make a good point about no drums(especially for a sb).
But a question for everyone-wasnt there a radio bcast in the UK containing a few of the songs? anybody know?

the soundboard of Gimme Shelter from Altamont (on the Shot Of Salvation comp)is completely amazing!.....if there is a complete show in this quality, that would be BIG news!

You mean, finally, the first ever live performance of Brown Sugar???

Re: Altamont Soundboard

I think its an audience, low gen, reel to reel tape recorded from the stage....Keith side...NO drums, very little bass, and NO drums....Taylor comes up a bit at the end of the snippet...Still, it took forty years almost to find that intro.

i like the old audience source on this one, actually...has a certain vibe and aura that captures the essence of what was going on - on-stage and otherwise. a soundboard can never accomplish that and there's really nothing particularly amazing about the band's performance at this show, anyway....

Re: Altamont Soundboard

nope not an audience tape..there is no outdoor ambience nor can you hear any of the typical crowd sounds (and there were plenty that day) one expects to hear on even the best audience tapes. it is possible that this is only one channel or just a few unmixed tracks of the soundboard multitracks, which is why it is missing other instruments....
other than that, all i can say is HOLY SH*T!

actually the aud recording thats readily avail.(Urban Steel has it on his posts) has a pretty decent recording of Brown Sugar(for its age! IMO)

Sounds like a pretty raw soundboard source to me. The vocals are a tad too clear for an audience recording, I think.

shiteeeeeee shiiiiit! I got up and started dancing to the groove when it suddenly finished

This would explain something peculiar: the audience tape (as on VGP) and the soundboard tape (as on Shot of Salvation) has the exact same fade in and fade out.

That's weird.

I just listened again, and I think, the noodling between the Cutler intro and the beginning of the song, MIGHT be the noodily intro in the Movie, Gimme Shelter

What do y'all think....?
