Track Talk: Live with Me (Live, No Security)

this is one of the tightest, biting versions I've heard. Anyone know where it was recorded? Are there overdubs or is it really fully live?

Arena, Amsterdam, Hollande, 01/07/1998 ???
It made fluttering my heart.

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

Best version of Live With Me is from Brixton '95

How can this version ever be compared with either the original or any live version from '69 to '73? That is truly beyond me.

Why is it beyond you? I happen to think it’s an excellent rendition and Keith excels. Perhaps you should be a little more open-minded.

It's an excellent rendition indeed - those 1995 club gigs were among the best RS ever did, after Bill Wyman left....but to say that it's "the best version ever"....gotta agree with Mathijs here - history was written when performed back in the heydays

Yes, keith does a nice job, as does Bobby. But: Darryl Jones is slapping the main bass line, Wood is inaudible, Chuck does a piano run for every chorus and his piano sounds like. The song's empty, there's no real drive and power, this version just doesn't have any balls.

Put on Ya-Ya's to hear a real band play this.

IMHO Live With Me has never sounded better and will never sound better than it did at MSG´69.

Yep. The NS version is good. But nothing compared to the Ya Ya's version.

Why do we always have to compare the Stones of 95 to the Stone of 1969? Of course they were a better band in 1969 but the 95 club shows were fantastic!! The Stones of 1995 are still better than any other act out there!

I think this song had it´s peak in the 1970 european tour.
Keith´s intro and the adding of the horns was just amazing !

OKAY, OKAY, OKAY!

I will take back my statement that the Brixton '95 rendition is the 'best version'. Certainly, it is utterly fantastic - Keith’s guitar - and contrary to Mathijs' opinion: I think there is plenty of power. Maybe not guitar-driven Taylor-like power, but the mid-90's equivalent for certain.

I have to 'fess up and concede that I have not heard too many of the early live performances of this here track, but the Ya Ya's cut is indeed terrific.
