All Down The Line, period. Great album with a lot of great songs, but nothing compares to ADTL in my opinion.

my first stones record was sticky, then i got all the others and then exile as last one. i still remember how disappointed i have been from exile. that was when i was 14. exile really has to grow on you.
i kind of like it now, but sticky still number one.sticky still defines the stones for me.

my favourites on exile? actually really all of it.

i can't pick one because i fell that exile is an album that you have to play all the way through

Tumbling Dice is my favorite. By far. A distant second would be hard to choose, though Rocks Off, Torn & Frayed and Sweet Black Angel all are in the mix.

When EXILE came out in the early 70's it had mostly not so good reviews.
Hardly anybody saw it as a stepping stone or a Stones' highlight.

I remember certain reviews that said, at best the material would justify one ok album.
And from first hearings I felt similar. Some very good songs like that great opener Rocks off, but a lot of fillers too.

It took some days/ weeks for Exile to really grab me! (And years until it was generally accepted as a opus magnum . .)

CousinC - Yes it is an album that at first listen does not get you. You have to keep listening for it to take hold and when it does it has you for life.

since they're kinda running into each other, i'm going to cheat and say:
