Oh, how right you are! Fantastically talented group, whose contract was cancelled by Sony after 2 albums, for some unknown reason.

The liner notes of the record company on the Egyptian Reggae lp read something like this: "Beserkely Records - the most fun you can have - with your clothes on."

Hm, Mississippi Sheiks... this rings a bell. Haven't they written "Blood in my eyes", the song Bob Dylan covered on World Gone Wrong and the Supper Club shows?

Who did Black Flag influence? I like the first 4 years, Rollins was terrible...but they were part of a punk time...but I can't think of any bands that sound anything like them today. Maybe alot of punk bands sprung up who were influenced by Flag, but I don't know any who made it to anything. Stiff Little Fingers, Radio Birdman, X...I could see those...how X isn't in the RnR HOF is beyond me.

Flatlanders is right on...Butch should be a legend...his talents are incredible. Jimmie's voice is as sweet as it gets..."almost brings you to tears" Rolling Stone once wrote.

There are TONS who only made it "big" after their death...so I'll avoid that long list.

Most of you are naming bands that did make it big. By making it big I mean lots of people know who they are. That's no small feat. Husker Du. XTC. Those were big bands by my barometer.

For a band who truly never made it big I'd vote for Uncle Green from Atlanta. Great pop band. Back in the '80s.

The Texas Meat Purveyors from Austin in the '90s. Great band.

And still around today who are awesome are Buttercup from San Antonio.

The Angels
Aussie band - big in Aus since late 70's. Led the Aussie pub-rock explosion with ACDC and Cold Chisel. Better than ACDC but never made it big overseas. Known as Angel City in the States.
