its just a money making machine now, nothing more to do with being creative

The Stones are certainly money machines but I don't think they are finished with creative stuff.

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

ah,come on Mick J., you can come in and lay down the vocal after Taylor does his magic! Hey, maybe one of the songs he wrote with the Stones and recorded later--
like "Leather Jacket" or "Seperately"!! The old Richards/Taylor guitar gems with your vocal(I mean MT tried but you could make em classics)

How 'bout because he's not in The Rolling Stones? It's their ideas, not his or anyone else. So far, to my knowledge, he has not ever been asked to play on any studio recording of The Rolling Stones since he quit.

I think that firms that up pretty good.

The only reason I mentioned those songs cause he finished em later (and they ARE the same songs-just listen) and evidently they had no leg to stand on to challenge him, but it was all meant lightheartedly.

I'm seeing often them. If not 15 y.o, then 19, 23, or 24 y.o- what's the difference? And i and don't think that the streets of my city (Athens, Greece) are composing a special "Stonesland" or something like that. Just what i see..

Hi Norbert ,
I did try to record the program on my sat-harddisc-receiver. I will check if the recording is okay. I have an idea of how to get the recording from the hard disc to a dvd but I do not know how to upload a full dvd. If you know how to do this and are willing to do it - so that everybody can then see the concert online - you can mail me your address and I will send you the dvd.

Thanks for your reply...my email address isn't hidden...so if you like, you can mail me...
I don't know, however, how to upload the DVD - but I know some people who do...
personally I prefer the old way of snail mail...
Best wishes

They are finished with creative stuff imo.
Yes huge Stages,impressive lightshows,session players,and Mick Jagger.

Without all this there is not much left for at least 30 years I'am afraid

He played on Keith first solo Project(rather than Ronnie). I found that issue extraordinary in the eighties. Why not inviting him.....

Finally!!! I've been saying this for a while. He used to be great, his work with the Stones manufactured what is looked at as their best work (to a lot of people). but today the man is a complete mess. He is nowhere near what he once was, not even close. He's also very hit or miss with his abilities. he flubs notes, loses his guitar cable, messes with effects pedals. Sorry to say it but he is not playing at the same level as the Rolling Stones are right now, even though many people say they have lost a step as well.

Lol. Ron and Keith can hardly hold their guitars compared to Taylor.
They only perform with crutches, just like Bruce Springsteen.

Sure, back in the 70s and 80s. Mick Taylor is nowhere near stadium touring shape. It's hard to fathom when you love the Stones and Mick Taylor, but anyone who plays guitar knows that he is just not right anymore. Something changed with him. Check this out, this is the solo career he left the Stones for. Around 4:15 it gets good.

Agree he's not what he used to be.
But to compare him with Ron's or Keith playing??

I know what Wayne is getting at in a way.

I recently saw him with Stephen Dale Petit. At the start the omens did not look good,he came on stage struggled with his scarf, could not plug his lead in and dropped his pick. Someone in the crowd shouted out "have you done this before"? (I thought we were on for a horror show).Taylor heard this and said back to the heckler, "thousands of times".

Honestly....he then went on to give a virtuoso performance, trading lick for lick with SDP. After the show many many people were saying how great it would be if he played with the Stones again, and I would definetly agree. (form is temporary but class is permanent).

Well done to SDP for inviting him to play and well done to Taylor for stepping up to the plate...awesome!

What I guess I'm getting at is that something changed with him and at times he looks like a bumbling clueless guy with his equipment and missing notes. Most comments put him on such a pedestal that I really don't think he sits upon any longer. These comments also demean Woody as a guitar player, they are two very different stlyes. And, No matter how Woody or Keith play these days, they can still handle a HUGE crowd, work it, entertain it, and then go around the world filling stadiums. I don't think Mick taylor can do that. Could you imagine BOOM up go the lights and it's JJ Flash or whatever, and there's Keith doing his thing, Jagger wiggling around, and Mick Taylor wandering around looking for his pick and guitar cable.

Some people just cant let others engage in a conversation-if Brian Jones was still alive would you do your best to degrade him to? This IS a discussion forum, is it not? Just because someone says something positive about Taylor doesnt mean they hate Ron( that reminds me of such silliness as "you cant support our troops and not the war"!)

It'd be cool if he played with them again, but I don't believe it would have any significant impact on CD sales or anything.

It'd just be a nice thing for those that want to see and/or hear something like that happen.

Is this for me? I'm not degrading anyone. I'm simply stating that Mick Taylor is no longer in stadium touring mega rock band form. And that most of these posts turn into a Woody vs Taylor ping pong match. It's silly.

Jeff Beck was given the opportunity to be in the band, imagine where that would have gone. There's a discussion worth having.

He would have technicians fixing it - same happens with KR ánd RW. The technicians are making the guitars ready for KR and RW.

The problem is KR lack of playing guitar do to his age / physical shape.
A third guitarplayer would fill up the holes / missing parts.
Everybody also knows that KR can't play his solo parts as he used to.
So, MT would be perfect as a third guitarplayer in the band. (Blondie is no good solution)
Nobody wants Stones to go onstage next tour and not being able to play, that's what's the deal is all about. Like Pete Townend said at Hall of Fame - grow old in a decent way - don't go on a tour being a joke.
A final tour with messy music would be a very sad end, and that true Stones fans don't want to happen.

Wow that video is pretty @#$%&' sad...while he's better than a lot of weekend warrior @#$%& at your local bar, to think that's the same guy who was a @#$%&' guitar GOD with the Stones in the late 60s/early 70s is stunning...missed notes, goofy cables and effects...shocking...

Blondie is not the solution at all. KR isn't nearly as bad as people claim he is either.

I agree that there are way too many holes in Keith's playing these days, but I'm not sure that having Taylor "filling" those holes would work. I'd love to see him play with the Stones as a guest guitarist, and he definitely has things that the Stones lack (and vice versa). But I'm afraid that his lead guitar noodling would create more of a mess on stage. The rhythm guitar can only be helped by Keith working harder, not adding another guitar. But if the choice is between Blondie and Taylor, I certainly know which one I'd choose.
