Mick's mafia

Are the Stones surrounded by hangers on and yes men/women ala Elvis' Memphis Mafia?

Seems to me that they're WAAAAAAAAy out of touch with the common fans and reality.

Each and every successfull band is surrounded by hangers on.

I'm thinking Keith & Ronnie probably have "hangers on,"
but Mick & Charlie are surrounded mostly by professional "Personal Assistants."

I'm also assuming that during official band activity, Mick pretty much takes over and extremely limits any "hangers on" type of activity.

Ive seen a few videos of Keith interviews where evry "joke" The Man makes is followed by some hearty laughs by what I assume to be his "gang".
Could be studio hands, but I doubt it.

I think they have their own separate universe, maybe they refer to us all as
the humans.

musician, roadie and also personnal assistant.

They're more in touch with ordinady people and reality than most other people in the business.
Check out what sort of reality the rappers and the R&B (new type R&B, that is) acts relate to...
Naming a thread "Mick's mafia" is very offensive, and there's just no justification for doing so. The people who mostly surround him are his kids and his assistant and people from CPI - now Live Nation. (tour office)

Ron Wood tells the story he has been kept in a room and wasn't allowed to leave unless he promised to hand over some unreleased recordings he did with the Stones.

You must be one of them - no one else would be offended.

Are we talking about intention to deliver material to bootleggers?
Never had it confirmed from Stones-people directly, but I've heard rumours that some say that named band members have been paid good money for sound board recordings. Never been able to get a confirmation from anyone, though.

Some time ago I started a thread asking who the Stones listened to which some people misinterpreted as a request for their musical influences.

It seems to me that the Stones are out of touch or simply don't care - perhaps both.

I remember that thread. I only wish you'd been a bit more precise when you asked the question. I don't think it turned out the way you wanted to.
Why not give it another go, and be precise when you ask, or someone will say: Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters... Elvis and Roy Rogers. Stu etc.

For being as big of celebs as they are I think they are fairly grounded. I think they've known where to draw the line when It comes to hangers on. Brian had the most problems with that.

these days maybe Ron hangs out with to many "yes" people.

Doubt Mick would have any yes-men lollygagging around him. I don't see him as the type or depend or rely on anyone else's opinion or influence. Nor Charlie.

I don't know. "Being Mick" was kinda creepy.

Ican't see anyone in "The Stones camp" being too critical about new recordings, standard/quality or whatever.
I suppose the record company (whichever they are) must have some sort of veto.
Cohl? Only on tour I guess.
The record producer? I wouldn't have thought so.
Wives/girl-friends? Doubt it.
I've always felt that Stu was the last person outside of the immediate members who get away with some honest and straight talking.
