Well well well - you should read on, and not take it out of context.
I'll try to highlight what's needed to understand.

"When the road manager extraordinaire Richard Cole was assigned the task of finding a plane ostentatious enough to transport Led Zeppelin during the band's world-conquering 1973 tour, the choice was as easy as a groupie: in the mid-70's, if you were a rock star, or just part of the bell-bottomed entourage, the only way to travel was in a customized Boeing 720B called the Starship 1."

But hey, the Stones were already flying in '72! - ok, with old fashioned propellers, but still.
Led Zep was flying with a jet a year later in '73 i.e. the Starship 1.

and the same meaning is in this sentence:

"There had been, of course, other private planes. The Rolling Stones chartered one for their 1972 tour, inviting Truman Capote and Lee Radziwill to tag along. And much has been made of the plush jets the wrinkly rockers leased for their recent world tour. But they are crop dusters compared to the Starship"

To save even further costs, the plane won't land & the Stones will utilise the services of Parachute Women to reach the ground

I can't believe the Stones flew in those puddle jumpers.

So how high could they get in that old plane?

For parts of the B2B and Licks tours the Stones used this VIP equipped B757-200:



It has a dining and lounge area in the forward cabin and business class seats in the aft cabin. It has been refitted since the B2B tour. Total capacity is 49 passengers. Typical capacity for this type in commercial airlines would be 200-220.

The biggest plane which I ever saw in Bron (airport near Lyon ,5 minutes from my home ,for private planes )

. Landing runway 16 from Paris CDG with The Rolling Stones and a part of their technical staff on board ! Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ron Wood give a concert to Lyons this evening ,2007 June the 18 th....

Here is one of Keith in the Blue Line MD 83 after the Brno concert. He is wearing the scarf (or blanket?) that, I think, was thrown to him while on stage.

By the looks of this, Bill Wyman will not be rejoining the Stones for a tour.

When the Rolling Stones pop group toured Australia and New Zealand in 1973, their sound equipment travelled in L749 Constellation N7777G (msn 2553) of Air Cargo International Inc. of Houston and Miami. During a stopover in Brisbane it was reported that Customs had located a small quantity of "a grass-like substance" on the aeroplane. Given that the aeroplane had been used previously to transport livestock, this may not have been so surprising! After the Rolling Stones tour, the aeroplane became derelict in Dublin. Although there were plans to make the Connie airworthy for appearances on the European airshow circuit (for which purposes the aeroplane was to be registered G-CONI) this never eventuated and the Connie was acquired by the Science Museum who painted the aircraft in TWA colours as N7777G. This is surprising as the aeroplane never served TWA, having been delivered to KLM as PH-TET. The Connie is stored at the Science Museum facility at Wroughton in the U.K.

I was on both the 72 plane and the Starship.
Starship was the most "comfy," more like a couple of lounges with nice individual chairs and loveseats, also a piano.
