ha - well they already share a guitar player - but figure on gregg showing up at the dead 5/10 show...but dtb has a gig in santa barbara that night...imagine he'll be at the 5/14 show....and no doubt some dead men will be at one or both abb shows. seems no-brainer to me.

Saturday was one of the best of the 30 or so of theirs that I've seen. When you get Dreams in the first set, then you know you're in for something special. The In a Silent Way into Elizabeth Reed was spectacular, as were the two with Robert Randolph.

The only letdown was the Stanley Clarke bass solo: no interaction or collegiality, just pure ego. He let fly with a few minutes of unrestrained showboating and stomped off the stage without staying around for the end of the song or acknowledging anyone. What a w@nker!

First, thanks for all the info electric-duane! Second -I was wondering if you, or anyone could help me with some questions I have about the footage from the Fillmore East 23/9 '70 (unaired set from a PBS special.) Is this the only filmed show from Fillmore East? Any reason why it isn't officially released? Is the whole show filmed? Are there any officialy released DVD's with Duane, (I couldn't find any on the net)?
For many years I've had a snippet of Whipping Post (from this show) on VHS, which I've probably played about 500 timeswinking smiley Just found it on You Tube, and it would be great to know more about it!
Thanks!

Hi STP - No problem. I love good music and get excited when I can pass it on.

I don't think I have a real answer to the bulk of your questions although I may be able to help with the knowledge I have:

As far as I know, the footage (no footage with the original line-up, for that matter) has been commercially released because ownership rights have been / are in dispute. There is a fan compilation DVD that contains the following:

Track 1. HOF Tribute (4:13)

*****************************************
Track 2. The Allman Brothers Band 9-23-70 Fillmore East - New York City, NY - 4 songs (34:04)

Chapter 01. Don't Keep Me Wondering
Chapter 02. Dreams*
Chapter 03. In Memory of Elizabeth Reed
Chapter 04. Whipping Post
Chapter 05. **Whipping Post** (11:16)

* Greggs vocals are low during Dreams, PA problems at the Fillmore.
**Alternate Source for second Whipping Post.

*********************************

Track 3. Allman Brothers Band Nov 2, 1972 Hofstra University - Hempstead, New York

Portions appeared on ABC-TV\'s 2nd In Concert show ABB\'s first TV appearance in 1972 (Berry\'s last public performance)

Chapter 01 - Ramblin\' Man (05:51)
Chapter 02 - Whipping Post (11:19)

*************************************************************
Track 4. 1976 \"Southern Voices, American Dream\" Documentary by Ken Hey (excerpt) (13:34)

Interviews with Gregg, Dickey, Jimmy Hall, Phil Walden, and Paul Hornsby. w/ Duane footage from Love Valley.

Duane! Berry! Dickey!@ 6:39 the incredible scene of Duane playing with that open sky background behind him and oh, that light shining on him (8:28)...to the ending shot of Duane & Gregg @ 10:00. Nice little B&W tribute to Duane with Little Martha playing leading to the shot of his headstone.

******************************************************
Track 5. Duane clips:

1. 7/19/70 Love Valley clips

Dreams 2:37
Dreams B&W 5:27
Mountain Jam 1:17

2. Central Park 1970 clips

Liz Reed (end) 0:54
Done Somebody Wrong 2:47
Hot \'Lanta 0:22

*************************************
Track 6. Statesboro Blues from the Dreams promo Video (4:08)

************************************************
Track 7. Closing Slideshow (Created using the Ken Burns effect & MJ 3/13/71 MJ audio)

This DVD can most likely be obtained by going to www.allmanbrothersband.com and inquiring nicely about it in the forums. Somebody may be able to point you in the right direction (I got mine a long time ago just by asking and providing the blank disc and postage in the good old fashioned art of trading).

I hope that helps you out a bit.

Take care and have a nice evening.

E-Duane

P.S. while I don't advocate it as it's against the ABB trading and taping policy, I did check some of the typical torrent sites and it seems to be available there as well.

You may, T&A! I've been very happy the three times I've seen him over the years.

Are the Moogis site recordings only available to those who pay the 125.00?

I Was at last night's show. I was dreading seeing Sheryl Crow because quite frankly i hate her music and cannot see how she has any relationship to Duane. Thankfully she was on and off the stage in 10 minutes and did not have a large impact on the show. A few drunk fellows were yelling, "WHORE" the entire time which was pretty funny (of course she couldn't hear it)

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night to see how involved Eric Clapton will be, and what they do with Crossroads and Layla as well. Maybe some Tell the Truth as well??

man she is easy on the eyes .got to see her up CLOSE at a soundcheck with the stones .i am so in love with her !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

nobody seems to be ambivalent her as a talent - i hear arguments from a lot of folks that she is talentless...not for my money, she's not. when acts like the stones and the allmans call on her (and they really don't need her for any ulterior purposes), it tells me something about her talents...

Re: OT: The Allman Brothers Band

talent with the best of them but what she has heads and tails above a lot of her peers is PASSION and it comes out in her music her lyrics one of the best !!!!!!!

Yeah, she's kinda cute - and most defintiely talented.

Not too crazy about her politics, but WTF, she's kinda cute.

She's way cute, Elmo. Thanks for posting that photo........now I'm going to go take a shower. I feel dirty.

I love her Globe Sessions album the best.

I agree that she's cute, and I also
agree that it's nice that she was on and off so fast for the show.

I took my third trek to NYC to check out The Brothers at the Beacon. I went to the shows on the 13th and 14th. Amazing shows. Warren and Derek are absolutely phenomenal. The solos those guys work out are mind blowing. Can't wait for the two Cali shows in May.
