Anyone dig this song a lot? One of my favorite post-Exile songs by the Stones; great groove, great guitars, and Mick singing great.

The album version not so much - the TOTA versions were great though. Too bad they dropped it as the tour progressed.

I'm at odds with this song. Sometimes I love it, other times I think it's just another bad attempt at playing reggae and is one of their - not lame like Streets Of Love or Angie or Rock And A Hard Place or Winning Ugly but just - bad songs. And when that thought occurs I skip to Dance Little Sister.

really? funny, because sometimes when I hear "Dance Little Sister," I think it's one of their bad songs.

IORR is perhaps their weakest album.

I do skip past DLS as well. I like Fingerprint File, If You Can't Rock Me, TWFNO and...actually, IYRWTBMF.

But yeah, IORR is not a great album.

Great song! Always loved it! Love Jaggers vocal phrasing!

I think it is ok.I like when the band stretches out and tries a different genre. I think IORR was a somewhat transitional lp. I also think the band was in a transition. With most of the band in their 30s, and the money really getting to be a lot, they were going from the cool hip rebels to financially succesfull.

Weird how we're all different but then I think I'm in the minority of loving IJWSHF and "Melody" so what do I know?

Btw, IYRWBMF is arguably the worst song along wit BTZ they've ever done.

Luxury is an underrated party classic. Don't know why it isn't more loved by fans and the band themselves.

Very nice! I put it on the wish list for ABB.

Disc 2 track 5, a very good version of "Luxury".

i like it. aside from jagger's faux-rasta vocals, i never really understood why it's regarded as a reggae tune.

I agree T&A..ha..I love the song just think Jagger's voice seems to low in the mix....That "rasta vocals" kind of hurt the overall sound. Part reggae Part POP!
I think if Jagger was higher in the mix and without the rasta voice it could have been a big hit...But i like it, YES i do!!!

I love this tune. Charlie's definitely playing a reggae beat on this one.

Agree that I like it. Agree that it's not really a reggae song, but that it has some elements of it. Agree that it was a bit better live.

I love the way we put the song titles, but sometimes it gets a little silly.

Charlies rimshot and bassdrum are on 2 and 4.
Something simular you hear in some reggae style. But apart from that it's a rock beat.
Maybe it was recorded in Jamaica?? winking smiley

But within the context of what album is being talked about it shouldn't be a mystery. If You Really Want To Be My Friend is a really long song title and a really long song so initialising it takes way less time. Heh.

So... is there a live version I can hear/ see anywhere??? UrbanSteel?? Any pro-shot vids of this one?? smiling smiley) I've never heard any live versions of Luxury, and I would love to hear one, if anyone has a link.

Re: Luxury

I bet not. As Mick said about doing Crazy Mama for whatever tour that was recently, it's too wordy. Which is odd seeing he has the teleprompter nowadays to help him through the songs.

Oops. I mean for ...Friend that is ha ha.

I like this song. but Ive only heard one live version of it from '75 and I really don't like billy preston's synthesizer part on it. Ultra- Cheezy.

Agree with Ryan about Billy's little intro not really helping the song, but I think the version from Toronto June 17 is my favorite.
