like it somehow, but the lyrics are just terrible.

Not a huge fan - though I did enjoy the Beacon show version from the Licks Tour.

Strange the Stones would do a T.Rex knockoff, but the resemblance is obvious. As I like all things relating to sex, I'm down with it.

musically good but lyrics are UNCLEVER & CLICHE'. *(IMO)

Another example of Mick writing lyrics while being driven to the studio...probably.
I think there was a clip (maybe Being Mick?) showing him writing
this way....Love Is Strong too. Disappointing. Lack of effort really shows
sometimes.

well, bon scott wrote those kinda lyrics. but they were better, funnier and he was in his 30ies. those girl/car analogies are rather emberassing...especialy when written by a mid-fifty guy.
i think jagger wrote some of the best lyrics in rock history and he is really underrated. but this one?...naaaaaa

This song is slick and a flat-out winner. Maybe the cornerstone? Again, VooDoo Lounge is a great Album and tour!! Urban Steel keeps proving with posts.

i love Voodoo Lounge but thought Brand New Car was weak...as a complete song.
I like the music and feel of BNC....but the dominating lyrics are weak (IMO).
The phrase "brand new car" is lame (to me).

The subject matter is really no different than Start Me Up but there
was something more abstract about SMU. I think Mick used his rhyming
dictionary too much on Brand New Car and Love Is Strong.

I simply think that the VL tour occurred during a great time in US history. Money was good back then and I remember that tour as if it were yesterday. VH1 carrying the Stones live performance of Beast of Burden from RFK (I think DC) was great. I liked the hype. It's one of my fav tours. There was something magical about it.

One of my favorite things about the Voodoo Show that I saw (Madison WI)
was that I had absolutely no idea what the setlist would be....i purposely
avoided finding out. Great setlists! I liked the staging & Mick's
voodoo top hat outfit. Very different from Steels Wheels...but loved both tours.

Worst part....bought tickets the day they went on sale and
got bad seats.....only to see much better tix for sale outside the venue on show day...
..probably below face value.

I saw them in Raleigh, NC on that tour. Seats were decent but I was on Ronnie's side of the stage. Carter Finley is a good stadium venue (if there is such a thing) because the stands are close to the sidelines. It's where the NC State Wolfpack play.

Well, the good part is, that this song is not about a car

Just a good, fun song - it's not trying to be "Gimme Shelter". I think it's sexy and funny. But what do I know, I think I'm sexy and funny too.

I think it's a really funny song with a slightly cartoonish quality and a most amazing brass arrangement. These brass parts with their juicy intonation are the perfect complement to Jaggers over-the-top vocals. Coupled with Melody it would make a perfect "fan club" single IMO.

In fact the next three Track Talk songs should follow as: Send it to Me,
Melody , and Crackin up. Hell, I wouldn't mind hearing these songs at my next Stones concert. By the way, if you think ticket prices were outrageous previously, the ceramic piggy bank will come in handy!

Love this, the lyrics are schoolboy basic humour and silly - brilliant!

This is the ringtone on my phone and no one who is not into the Stones ever guesses who it is, at least they probably all realise it is Stones because it's my phone

I love the lyrics they are tongue in cheek - great little tune!

Mick is one of those mid-fifty guys I can imagine of that he screw a woman in the car. Anyway he's been singing mostly about sex or women all of his life.
And apart from tabloid stuff surronding Ronnie's love story, it seems that the Rolling Stones - even at their age - not just sing about it they do it!

This is the kind of Stones tune you can laugh with.
Humor was sorely missing on their previous LP, Steel Wheels.
