I personally like the song very much but could never decide if its pro christianity or anti or am I missing the point entirely? It seems a distant cousin of "Saint of Me" where his message gets confusing.

LOL, that is today's Jagger just making sure to cover all the bases.

"Blinded" is not bad, and I think it one of the most interesting lyrics, one of the few, where Christ is mentioned, maybe brother Chris helped Mick during the writing ?, he helped him with the lyrics on another "Blinded", "Blinded by Love". I think it's healthy that one can write about other things than "Sex, Drugs and Rock'n Roll"

<it is only a "A weak moment in Stones history"when you consider almost all of the modern stones or mick jagger solo ballads weak. for me it´s a typical modern stones ballad - nothing less, nothing more!>

I like Voodoo Lounge. I also like Hard Woman, Out Of Tears, How Can I Stop, Almost Hear You Sigh and other "recent" ballads. But this one just isn't credible enough (lyrics), interesting enough (both sound and music) for me.

Doesn't work, to my ears. Pretentious and stilted lyrics, and a boring melody. It's got too much of the Mick solo thing going on (it's a cousin of Visions of Paradise, in a way), with not enough Keith grit to balance it out. Sub-par effort on an otherwise fine album.

I always liked this song and still do. I think VL is an underrated album.

"You'll be studying history and you'll be down the gym. And I'll be down the pub, probably playing pool and drinking."

Awful song...songs like this give the Stones a bad name

IIRC, Rolling Stone called it the best song on the album, for what it's worth.

Ha ha. I find the solo the best part of the song!

Lyrically I can't stand it. Musically it's interesting but average at best.

Beautiful lyrics, flawlessly played by Mick, Ronnie's solo is so beautiful in its simplicity because there is so much soul in that solo.

Like much of Voodoo Lounge and ABB, there are vague wisps of former songs. Past glory. But this is a mess. Even Charlie sounds like he's phoning it in.

This song is an insult to Stones fans who dogmatically refuse to buy Jagger solo records. He’s been jailed for lesser offences.

I've always liked this one, especially the subtle buildup towards the end, particularly Mick's vocals! Blinded By Love is a better tune, but still, this one is pretty good.

I really hate the lyrics. They are probably the worst lyrics commited tape Stoneswise or other.

If you want something worse just skip back a few tracks to Brand New Car.

Definitely a favourite VL track for me. I too love its buildup towards the end.

The buildup has a strong effect indeed.

A mediocre song from a not so good album

Like some other efforts - "Dangerous Beauty", for one - the lyrics are much weaker than the music. I really like the way this one takes off at the chorus.

Also, as stated earlier, I can't decide if it's Pro-Christian or Anti.

This is no less than a Rolling Stones anti-terrorist song! Then highly important as such!.

For me a great song, but I find the whole VL to be a great album.
VL in my opinion is much better than many albums from the 70s.

I don't care for music and politics to mix.

OK I understand that from a 'preference' standpoint, but that doesn't immediately translate into a song being weak, because the lyrics are political. As a political statement it's laser like direct, hits the mark and is absolutely hilarious to boot.

This is IMO at the very bottom of Stones catalog. On my least favorite album.
