What's your emotions for the Stones
Posted by: Fan Since 1964 ()

Maybe some of you have been, just as I, a long term fan of the Stones.

For me it started all out in 1964 and I am still, proud I must say, around
and will fortunately enough hang around until the end. I've been thru thick and thin, for better and worse, thru sickness and health, yes probably anything you can experience with our band of gypsies. To me it's been a long trip and a rich one too. All the concerts, drug problems, sad days when Brian died, Mick Taylor's impact on the music and the Stones sound from that period. The mish mash of emotions between Mick and Keith during some years. A rollercoaster of dreams, hopes, frustration and most of all joy.

Now we're heading for 50 licks and me myself for 60 licks the same year. Still my emotions when there's some sort of news it triggers me to keep on believing that there will no end to this legacy. Still I (at least) have come to the conclusion that the Stones together with their fans are heading for some sort of closure.

I have many memories from the years together with the Stones. I think it's together with them and only with them we could experience this sort of overwhelming closeness to a band which really are so far away and still so close.

What's your thoughts about your time as a Stones fan and how have you experienced your time as a fan.

I have some stories to tell and I hope you will tell yours.

Please come forward and tell us about your emotions for the Stones!

Aside from my family, probably the thing that's brought me the most pleasure in the last 35 years of my life. [And the closest thing I have to a "religion"]

Can you love a group of people you don't even know ?
Yes, I do believe you can.

I mean that if we all think positive we can make a difference.
Don't you think so too?

We really, (in my humble opinion), need the Stones around for a long time yet.
Don't you think so too?
I mean what's in there for us otherwise?

The Stones are more than just a band to me. They are more like a spirit force that have got me through the best of times and the hardest of times. In fact in my deepest downs I have always been able to summon up a Stones song that has got me through. Can't think of any other band that gives me that inner strength. Hope you know what I'm talking about.

One of the most strong memories I have is this:

I was in Stockholm in 2003, breaking up with my girlfriend. We were supposed to go there together. Not to happen though. I went there by train. At Stockholm Stadium I met a mother and a daughter, who recently had lost a brother and a son. The son were a big fan of the Stones. We talked about him and the mother and daughter were a bit questionable about the Stones. They did not know how good the Stones are.

In the middle of the concert when Keith picked up a 12 string accoustic guitar and started out the chords of "Wild Horses",, they asked me if the Stones were always this good and then they sent a prayer to their son and brother who had died in cancer just 3 months earlier and they just wanted to send their respects by being on this precise concert. And the Stones performed better as ever, just as if they knew. It was a tight connection to make. Nothing that I ever expected as a Stones fan.

They do have an impact whereever they go or whatever they do!

An experience I never thought I would do. But that just the Stones and their fans can expect to experience in a lifetime!

Thanks a lot for the word!
My eyes are filled with tears right now!

That's the mark of great musicians - not only being able to move your feet but move your whole emotions. Too rare in rock music these days. I get moved to tears for all the wrong reasons when I listen to a lot of music nowadays, because a lot of it is such kak.

The Stones are the only rock'n'roll band I really care about. They are incredible. I am not hysteric, I do not not know them, yet I have some kind of sympathy for these devils. Should they continue? Only if they are really capable of doing it, they should not become a parody of themselves!

Funny isn't it?

1. They are a bunch of blokes pratting about for fun and getting paid huge amounts for it. Ok, they're quite good at the music bit, and

2. we are hooked on their charisma/sound/whatever it is they generate that's so unique, but

3. they're only a band, so

4. don't take it too seriously.

Is that right?

There's always a difference in approaching a subject like this.
To me the Stones and might always be very serious.
It's been a long time experience.
If anyone likes to take the experience more mellow than I do then it's fine with me.
Just as long the deep emotions that some of us share is okay with you then we speak some sort of the same language as all fans of the Stones do!

Take it lightly or deeply!

As long as we long for another decade of Stones music, because it will be hard without it, don't you think?

They still thrill me, ever since 1973. And meeting them all at the same time just put wood ( smiling smiley) on the fire!

Hey mickijaggeroo, you put an additional fire to fanship by letting me and my friends into your personal party in Gothenburg in 2007.
Hopefully you will be my guidance to see them and greet them for all these years
they've put up an effort for me.

It would be the greatest thing for me to shake their hands and give my support for them. It would be an honour!

That's how strong my love is!

As a teenager, I used my parents' record collection as a bit of an inspiration for my own CD collection. Having tremendously enjoyed getting into George Harrison's music after a song of his (Got My Mind Set On You) had become my favourite tune on the radio, and later discovering that I dug Paul McCartney, too, to some degree (My Brave Face), I figured that I should check out some Rolling Stones music, too.
Being the youngster I was then, I wasn't too keen on the old stuff, but rather wanted to find out whether the Stones could still rock. So when I saw their most recent single (Highwire) in a catalogue on CD with a reduced price, I picked it up.
It proved to be a great song, so later, when I saw Mick Jagger's solo album Wandering Spirit in a store, I had a listen, liked it and bought it.
Every new album release by the Rolling Stones that came out since then has been greeted with much enthusiasm by me, and with the exception of A Bigger Bang and the Jagger compilation that was promoted with the single Charmed Life, my high expectations were met every time.
That's why I'm hoping for more new studio albums by them to be released soon.
Stripped and Flashpoint are the only live albums I have touched, though, and I don't feel the need to get any other.

Actually, I'm already at it. I used to be really restrictive towards older material by any band when I was in my teens, but no more.
