The live version of Tumblin' Dice from Brussels Affair.

Absolute perfection.

Can't You Hear Me Knocking .... show cases all I love about the stones. Raunch, jaming, blues, soul, and new style melded with the old. LOVE IT!

Jumping Jack Flash.
It's my favorite Rolling Stones song. The song is trademark Rolling Stones. The advantage over Gimme Shelter(fantastic song too) is the beat; it rocks.

Tumblin Dice is a great recording and played live never seems to lose its powers. Its just a great groove.

But the Stones greatest melody has to be Ruby Tuesday.

What about Lovin' Cup? I think Lovin' Cup is pretty definitive. Great song.

Imho, the signature Stones song can only be Satisfaction

But during the era that I experienced the Stones in in real time, which is from about between Flashpoint and VL until today, I'd say my tune of choice would be Too Tight.

I love @#$%& too. But if I could bring only one song to a desert island, it had to be Gimme Shelter. The Philadelphia Special version (1972), I think.

never occured to me but i can hear that now that u mention...
the onslaught of that opening honking riff and yes the rumble of that hard beat, the tough lyrics...the climbing harmonies and the big payoff into falsetto descending harmonies, a lot going on here

its difficult to nominate a definitive stones song cos the stones dont have just the one sound.

different era,s brought change from what went before.

nobody said this would be easy. you need to put the effort in just like the rest of us; no exceptions.

Or expectations as the case may be...At least that's how WE see it.

like i said...great tune....but it's got that unmistakeable "diddley daddy" riff running thru it....keith demo'd it on friday night videos with schaefer way back when...

iorr is not for slackers - there are plenty of other stones sites for them. you need to work hard, keep your nose to the grindstones and get your satisfaction with delayed gratification. and remember, that it's one of the few work environments that not only tolerates but encourages alcholic refreshment while toiling....
