When Jagger moves on stage have changed?

its something that has intrigued me a lot..id like to learn something more from someone smiling smiley
i really miss that great istrionic buffonesque way of moving, imo first seen on the TOTA 75. with some differences, to me that way of moving on stage didnt change until 1988. From steel wheels, the first tour of the new stones era, it seems to me his style had changed.

this video is just one year before, am i the only one who see a big difference?

I'd think age would have something to do with that.

He started having "dancing instructors" in 1989. That's when his stage moves became more stylized. In recent years, though, some of the spontaniety has returned. He didn't seem so "rehearsed" on the Licks and Bigger Bang tours.

During the 1978 tour Jagger came up with some crazy funny moves; Dan ankroyd made fun of him on SNL. In 1969 he came up with the rooster walk that was good too. I still like the Silver Train video where Jagger goes nuts with some weird moves there. He is the best rock and roll performer, yeah!!

Jagger is at his prime right now. better than ever.

I so enjoyed that! Thanks farawayeyes2.

Yes, he has become more stylized. I think Tina taught him a few moves,
including the backward walk, and he's had a choreographer, so the word goes.
I thought he broke out a bit too of late, depending where he's playing.

Japan 1988 was the last of the over the top antics started in 1975. Compare the Japan 88 shows to the Austrailia tour just 6 months later, and his moves are much less grandeoise. Since 88, I think Jagger personally put on the best shows during the Voodoo Lounge tour. He wasnt jumping around breathless like 1981 but it was significantly more in motion than Steel Wheels.

seems like in 72ish he did a lot of the puffed or puckered out lips and clapping his hands in front of his face kinda moves, maybe it went back further than 72. U dont really see that much any more.

You may have something there, Baboon Bro. His posture is certainly improved...

His moves changed way before this. Even by 1969 he'd dropped the frenetic James Brown style dancing that he did on The T.A.M.I. Show & the NME Poll Winners concerts.

I observed that he seemed to run around a little less on the last tour - certainly compared to Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge. Was he more animated during the Licks tour? There seemed to be more on the spot movements last time around.

I think the peak of his "running around" was in 1981/1982, but I think I prefer less running & more dancing (though I prefer the older more spontaneous moves rather than the recent choreography!).

Jagger should start using his mic-stand again. It used to be a great part of his act when he'd dance with it, lift it up and basically dance more around it rather than just run around. I understand he needs to cover alot of ground in a stadium show but a bit of the old magic would go along way!

I have the same question for years.....

The 1989-2009 Mick is not the Mick I (like to) know.....

I miss his arrogant movements

Age slowed down his jumping and semi-splits (on stage anyway).

IMO His moves were never more brilliant than the 78 SNL appearance. including rehearsals and Airtime.

What I miss is the "rooster on acid" strut he did in the late 60s and the "preaching(shaking his finger and mouthing words)" act on the 72-73 shows.

I think the first time I ever noticed that he had slowed down a bit was during Steel Wheels. Maybe it was just a change in movements, not so much a slowing.

But I had never seen him slow down before that. Then again, I would say he is still pretty active to this day.

I liked the running on the spot of the '78 and '81 tours!
