i was wondering if all of you wonderful music fans out there could help me out.

i am trying to put together an hour long radio show about songs that have famous people in the background you may not know about, especially just hearing it.

ie- pete townsend on backup vocals on slave by the stones
james taylor on banjo and linda ronstatdt on neil young's old man

if you can think of any other juicy ones feel free to pass 'em along, of course extra stones tracks get bonus points, i know page was on dirty work... that would be good

Jimmy Page's studio output in 1964 included Marianne Faithfull's "As Tears Go By", The Nashville Teens' "Tobacco Road", The Rolling Stones' "Heart of Stone" (released on Metamorphosis), Van Morrison & Them's "Baby Please Don't Go" and "Here Comes the Night", Dave Berry's "The Crying Game" and "My Baby Left Me", and Brenda Lee's "Is It True". Under the auspices of producer Talmy, Page contributed to The Kinks' 1964 debut album and he sat in on the sessions for The Who's first single "I Can't Explain" (although Pete Townshend was reluctant to allow Page's contribution on the final recording, Page did play on the B-side "Bald Headed Woman".)

I know Johnny Depp plays slide guitar on some oasis tune from the Be Here Now album. Think it's Fade In Out.

Many say that was not Jimmy Page. (If not, what was his roll in the sessions, accoustical guitar?)

I'm pretty sure the track you are thinking of is "Cast No Shadow" from the What's the Story Morning Glory abum.

Marc Bolan plays lead guitar on Bowie's "Prettiest Star" -single version
George Harrison plays guitar on Cream's "Badge"

Just looked it up to make sure. Johnny Depp is indeed playing on Fade In Out. Didn't find any mention of him for the Morning Glory album though.

It would be interesting to know who it is too(If not Page) but it sure sounds like Jimmy IMHO.

David Bowie on Lou Reed's Satellite Of Love.

I'm not 100% sure but I think Bowie might be in the backing vocal mix for "It's Only Rock n Roll".

It's a guitarist by the name of Alan Parker.
Page has said himself that he wasn't on it.
And, according to Page, Jeff Beck had a go at it, but Micky Most wiped it
and Parker was brought in.
Page does however play on Donovan's Sunshine Superman and Epistle To Dippy.

Seamus the hound on the track 'Seamus' from Pink Floyd's 'Meddle' album. I think the dog may have belonged to Steve Marriott and was being looked after by Dave Gilmour at the time of recording!

Jones did the"strings" on Shes A rainbow, I believe. As far as "Hurdy Gurdy Man", guess you learn something new everyday! He musta been a Page student! Or maybe Page is using an alias! HA HA

Mick Jagger on Nothing but the wheel by Peter Wolf.
Really great backup singing by Mick.
At the end it looks like he is taking over the leads a bit.
Very nice song.
