3DTeafoe posted these Leeds' pics in on an old thread. Hope he doesn't mind them being put up here as well...

Here are a few snapshots from the Leeds gig. I posted them a couple of years ago, but since the topic has been resurrected, I thought I'd repost a few.

This one is DEFINETLY from Slane, courtesy of the Daily Mail:

Comparing this picture with other pics it's more likely from the Leeds show.

I was going to make that point myself actually!

So what about that other picture that was supposed to be from Slane?

I still think the most likely option for the pics with Mick in the
"MICK" jacket and orange pants is Slane....

And folks, watch the clip of 'She's So Cold' that Doxa posted. Did you see Keith punch Ronnie in the face for missing a cue? Does Ronnie at any time LOOK like a man who's just been punched even off-camera?

You didnt see it?? Thats because, despite Nick Kent's ludicrous and oft-repeated claim to the contrary that it occurred during this very song at this very show, it didnt take place. Out of a 72,000 crowd, he's the only person, including the band themselves, who seemed to see it happen.

I was at both of these shows and my recollection of what happened was this: (I can't remember whether it was Friday or Saturday)

To me it sounded like Ronnie started playing Brown Sugar instead of She's So Cold. He definitely messed up big time. Keith did not punch him in the face but went over to him and kind of did a karate kick in his back. I remember being amazed at the time, so although the detail is not clear any more, it definitely did happen.

So Nick Kent's story has a grain of truth about it.

Got trivia if you want it!

After one of the Wembley gigs, Mick and his friends were back-heeled from a well-known restaurant!

I remember very, very well 1982 with 9 shows seeing in Germany, 2 Wembley and 1 n Basel.
BV has a couple of the 1000 color slides I made during this tour.
Among Wembley the second show in Frankfurt Festhalle (June 30th 1982) was one of the best in my lifetime.
On all shows I had first row except for the second London show as I wanted to see the stage in full at least for once.
Some of the photos including a report (really bad English) have bee printed in those times still black and white in the IORR.
At this point I would like to thank BV for his continious work on this fanclub.

After the Still Life Tour I still remember very, very good shows and lively Stones, Peaking out: Basel 1990, The Triple in Stockholm 2003 and the first Wemley Arena show, Hollywood Bowl and amazing San Diego 2005, Lausanne in 2007.

During this time I met new friends lost some old ones and kept still rolling after all these years.

I was never a fan of the 81/82 tour at the time. In fact the Stones seemed almost as much a nostalgia act then as they do now, certainly in the UK where age always seemed such an issue. However, on listening back to those clips there does appear a spontaneity and raw vitality that would forever be lost when the band reformed and toured at the end of the 80s. The Stones, and especially Jagger, sound very raw and extremely vital, even if generally the clips do not seem overly impressive. I think they sound infinitely perferable to the later, 'Las Vegas' style Stones incarnation, which always seemed so securely in the safety zone.

I saw them on the 26th June. A bad gig - as was the 25th by the sound of it. On 26th you could see Jagger just lost interest. Totally going through the motions.

The J Geils band were much better. And Black Uhuru for that matter!

Barney Hoskins was right.

As Doxa's clips show - the band was a bit of a mess - and Mick especially. They couldn't really give a ****. Mick especially.

No wonder he wanted a break from the circus act and the mess that Keith and Ronnie were at the time.

I have friends who thought that Leeds was good, though.

You seem to be in the minority here!
