Why not? Do you want to just give up on these people simply because they don't fit into your version of the way they should be?

What's the point to hang on to what is NOT there?

I had goose bumps when I saw Chuck doing his duckwalk just two yards in front of me in HMH last year. Maybe it wasn't as supple as half a century before, just like his guitar playing wasn't as fluent, but what the heck, I had a great time and I'm glad to have seen the legend perform. Will I listen a lot to the boot of the show? No, I'd probably grab his classic recordings, but the same applies to the Stones of recent years.

C'mon, Mathijs just likes to rattle things every once in a while.

I guess some people see a legend.. I envy you! I can't seem to. When I see the guy play, I realize there's 60 years of rock 'n roll history up there.. but all I see is some guy dressed up like a fool playing completely out of tune, mumbling words off the beat, and all of this with a huge ego that feels too good to even take a bow at the end of the show.

It's completely different from other artists. For example, I saw Bo Diddley short before he passed away. He didn't play very well, ofcourse, but he was very genuine and cool, even though he had to leave the stage after a little more than an hour because he wasn't feeling well. And different from BB King, who is the same age as Chuck, but is just as much a gentleman and fine guitar player and singer as he was 20 years ago.. And Johnny Winter too, he looked like he was blind and about to drop dead in front of us, yet he rocked the place as if nobody knew he was the great Johnny Winter. I left the theatre feeling like I'd seen a true legend with those men and I can't say the same of Chuck.

Chuck Berry is Keith's eternal teacher.
