OT: Bono Retiring?

Here's something that I came across this morning:

Bono's fishy retirement
20/12/2005 12:00:00 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(BANG) - Bono has considered quitting music... to live on a fish farm.

The U2 frontman confessed he and the rest of the band sometimes dream of retiring from music and trying a different lifestyle.

He said: "After doing this kind of thing for so long, it becomes a grudge match against your opponent, which is of course your lazy self, or the other self, which fancies the fish farm in Wales or Kenya - go and live on the beach, you've earned it, and for us it becomes a fight against that temptation."

Bono also says he and the band believe they've proved their critics wrong with their successful comeback.

He told Britain's Observer Music Monthly: "They thought we were off to the fish farm in Wales, the rock star retirement, or the Betty Ford clinic, the nostalgia shows, isn't that what's supposed to happen?

"We succeeded, and they hated us for that - can't you do anything right? Get a fat arse and there we are, it's 2001, and you think, what are the possibilities of a combo who have made their music together for 20 years but who are now more able intellectually, artistically, musically than they've ever been."

He retires when he wins the novel prize

they hand out Nobel prizes, like sweets/candy, these days.
I'll take Mr Hewson seriously, when he throws away those ridiculous sunglasses, he insists on wearing 24/7, and gets a decent haircut.

[s49.yousendit.com]

Here they (U Two) cover a wellknown song.
Maybe not the ultimate version; yet more than ok in my ears.

Sorry Baboon Bro .I like very much U2 but their PIB version really misses the target.First time I am listening to it and I find it rather embarassing.

They sure do better in Angels Of Harlem.
Paint it may be a very daring (or stupid, I reckon some would say)
choice of a cover...

The best statement I've read in years regarding Bonehead - as I prefer to call him. He's gonna retire ? Great ! Can he just get on with it then, and leave the rest of us in peace and quiet ?

I thought he was already dead from that skiing accident.

Bad joke from that time:

Weather forecast, mostly overcast in the Sierras, except for Sonny on one tree.....

YES PLEASE! F- OFF YOU SELF-RIGHTEOUS, SELF-PROMOTING, FLATULENT TWAT!!! ... But all is forgiven if you and your fellow traveller prats go off and produce another Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Pop or Passengers. Otherwise, if you're gonna come back with more of the same empty sloganeering and get yourself photographed grinning like a monkey on acid next to the world's leaders, you can go die of salmonella on your Welsh fish farm.

I'm amazed that another Macca/Beatles bashing thread has not yet begun today unless everyone got their fix in the ridiculous Let It Bleed/Let It Be thread over the past couple days.

Can't we all just stay focused on why we're here on this site? To whine about the Stones of course!
